He said the owners have talked to the City about future development of the <br />property. He said that they are entering a planning process that would involve the City and the community in a <br />discussion regarding how to transition the golf course and what would be reasonable and acceptable to the <br />community in terms of allowing new housing and preserving some open space. He said there will be public meetings <br />to discuss the golf course. He said a city -wide notice will be sent out to the community to attend the September 20, <br />2012 meeting. He said that a venue has not been finalized at this time. He said the owners will attend the meeting <br />to explain that the golf course is not making money and they do not see the future of golf being a profit center; <br />therefore, their desire to transition the golf course into some other uses. He said closing the golf course would <br />impact so many residents in the community the City has decided to engage in a public planning process. Mr. Martin <br />said staff is working on some guiding principles to explain to the community and hear the community's concerns, <br />fears and thoughts on the future of the golf course. <br />Mr. Martin explained that there would be a second public meeting scheduled in November to present <br />alternative development scenarios to the community for their consideration. He said the community's input from that <br />meeting would be synthesized into a preferred alternative for redeveloping the golf course which would be presented <br />at a City Commission workshop for final discussion. <br />A general discussion ensued regarding the redevelopment of the Casselberry Golf Course, possible closing <br />of the golf course and the loss in value of the homes in the area. <br />City Center <br />Mr. Martin said there have been seven letters of interest submitted regarding redevelopment of the City <br />owned property including the 15 acres, the Public Works Building, the Police Station, Black's Automotive and the <br />Concord Center site. He explained the next step in the process is to select the top 3 -4 letters of interest and meet <br />with those developers to discuss the specific details for the redevelopment. Mr. Martin said the City would then <br />request a financial package of what they could offer the City. He said it is moving along and it is very positive. <br />Black's Automotive — closing <br />Ms. Pamela Lynch, Economic Development Coordinator, stated as of July 25, 2012 the CRA became the <br />owner of the Black's Automotive parcel.
