He said the developers are excited about <br />those improvements. He said this is another gateway coming off State Road 436 and Oxford Road, Mr. Gisclar said <br />it was an appropriate use of the CRA funds. <br />Dr. Brock said having the design for the Oxford Road Project would make it a shovel ready project that <br />would be eligible for grants such as the MetroPlan Orlando Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Committee priority list. He <br />said it is something that could be constructed because the design of the project has been completed. <br />Mr. Jones suggested that the CRA Board hold a strategy session before the Board makes a decision on this <br />project so they are fully informed. A general discussion ensued regarding the CRA funding a portion of the design <br />work for the Oxford Road Project. The Board requested that staff come back to the CRA when the final design costs <br />are available for them to make a decision. <br />Eighth Item of Business: Director's Report <br />Economic Development Advisory Board <br />Ms. Pamela Lynch, Economic Development Coordinator, explained in the summer of 2012 staff requested <br />the creation of an Economic Development Advisory Board from the City Commission. The City Commission <br />approved the creation of the Board and in December formally appointed members to the Board. She said the first <br />meeting was held January 22, 2013. Ms. Lynch explained that the meetings were originally scheduled to be held <br />quarterly; however, the Board was so engaged that they requested monthly meetings. She said the Board consists <br />of 5 -11 members. She said the Board is very pro- active. She said the purpose is to energize and strengthen the <br />local economic conditions. <br />A brief discussion ensued regarding the status of the development of the Bojangles Restaurant, Chick -fil -A <br />and the Wal -Mart project. Ms. Smith stated that staff is focusing on the Oxford Road corridor area because this is an <br />area that is starting to redevelop. Ms. Smith explained that Seminole County is conducting a study of Oxford Road <br />primarily on the south side of SR 436 that is County but also including a portion on the north that is within <br />Casselberry. She said staff has provided the County with the City's vision. In response to the Board's question <br />regarding piggybacking on the Seminole County study, Ms. Smith said the City and Seminole County are using the <br />same consultant to ensure the improvements are interrelated and work well together.
