CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION
Minutes of October 8, 2012 — Regular Meeting
Page 13 of 14
Commissioner Colleen Hufford — Seat No. 4:
Welcomed the Boy Scout Troop in attendance, and invited them to attend again when they are
able to experience the meeting from the beginning and see the whole process. Noted that she
had spoken at the Troop's Blue and Gold Banquet last May and recalled seeing some of them
there.
Called the Commission's attention to Mr. Henderson's fifteen years of service on the Code
Enforcement Board, noting that he will be leaving the Board in December. City Clerk Donna
Gardner advised that his appointment would actually be through January 31"and noted that
he would be serving through that date. Vice Mayor Hufford stated that it was great that he
has served the City for so long in that capacity, which is uncommon.
Advised that the Casselberry Chamber of Connnerce will be hosting the Casselberry Food and
Wine Festival on November 81h. She added that this was the Chamber's biggest annual
fundraiser and that part of the proceeds would be going to the Casselbeffy Elementary School
food pantry and to the Art House. She also advised that they are adding a new component
which will be a scholarship program for local high school graduates. She expressed
appreciation to the Commissioners for their support.
Expressed some concerns she had about the presentations made at the last meeting by the
groups for and against the proposed millage increase for the schools. She stated she felt it had
been more of a debate than a discussion and did not feel that both sides were allotted equal
time, and she wanted to be sure the Commission was fair to each side on issues like that.
Suggested that she would like to see some sort of rotation of the Commissioners on the
various committees on which they serve. She expressed an interest in serving on MetroPlan
(MAC), as she no longer had a scheduling conflict as she was no longer serving on the
Tourist Development Council. A brief discussion ensued during which Ms. Gardner advised
that she believed the bylaws stated that the Mayor would be the representative and someone
else can be designated to attend in the Mayor's absence.
Mayor Charlene Glancy — Seat No. 5:
Advised that she had been contacted by Principal Mike Welch about attending a celebration
for the school's 50 "' anniversary on November Bch from 6 -8 p.m. She inquired from Vice
Mayor Hufford what the times were for the Chamber's event and was advised that it was from
5 -8 p.m. Mayor Glancy stated she would contact Principal Welch and let him know that she
and the other Commissioners would be unable to attend due to another big annual event
scheduled the same night.
Reported that she had attended a joint meeting with the Mayors and the School Board last
week. She advised that some of the discussion was about the upcoming redistricting and it
