CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION <br />Minutes of September 10, 2012 — Regular Meeting <br />Page 11 of 14 <br />F. Seminole County Redevelopment Planning A eg_na Report - Commissioner Sandra <br />Solomon <br />Reported the RPA met last week and voted for mast arms to be placed along 17 -92 starting at Sanford and that <br />they will be changing out the old -type lights. She further advised that grants were given to Taco Bell and <br />WaWa in Casselberry, and also to the DeGusipe Funeral Home. She added that the five -year capital project <br />expenditure budget included some work on Fernwood Boulevard from 17 -92 to the other end. She stated that <br />she had also inquired about the Oxford Road study and was advised they are currently working on that. She <br />noted that it appears Seminole County is serious about putting some money for improvements into the south <br />end of the county, and she is looking for good things to happen. <br />G. Casselberry Housing Task Force Report — Commissioner Anthony Aramendia <br />No report. <br />Mr. Newlon thanked the Commission again for their appointment, stating he appreciated the <br />opportunity and their confidence in him. He added that he would do his best to advance the interests <br />of the City and to make the Commission proud. <br />A. Operating Hours Report <br />Mr. Newlon reminded the Commission that they had asked in January of this year to revisit the City's <br />compressed work week. He stated that he believed it was a success and that staff and the community had either <br />embraced it or adjusted to it. He invited any questions or direction from the Commission, and added that Mr. <br />Andy Brooks, Human Resources Manager, was also available for questions. <br />Discussion; Discussion ensued regarding whether there had been any complaints, and whether the four -day <br />week had resulted in a decrease in staffs use of leave time. The Commissioners confirmed they had received <br />no complaints. Mr. Brooks stated that staff also had not received complaints, and that use of sick and leave <br />time were down due to staff's ability to utilize Fridays for appointment times. After additional discussion the <br />Commission agreed as a whole to continue the compressed work week. <br />Mr. Newlon reminded the Commission about an ordinance that was before them previously for first <br />reading pertaining to the City's registration program for foreclosed or distressed homes. He stated that <br />the ordinance had extended the authority to require registration of commercial properties, as well as <br />residential properties. He advised that since the first reading of the ordinance, staff had looked further <br />into the issue to learn more about the differences between the financing situations between commercial <br />and residential properties, and had found it to be more complicated than originally thought. He stated <br />that local businesses and the Board of Realtors had reached out to the City and asked that the City hold <br />
