CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION Minutes of April 13, 2012 — Retreat/Worhshop Page 6 of 8 Fire/Rescue consolidation Acknowledgment of the County's accomplishments as a governing unit, and expression of appreciation for the County's support of the City and of redevelopment in South Seminole County Brief synopsis of the City's accomplishments and future goals b. Goals for FYI 2-13 Mr. Newlon presented a proposed Mission Statement, a Vision Statement (through 2020), Core Values, and a list of goals and objectives for the Commission's consideration. He advised that the last time these items had been adopted was in 2000. The Mission Statement suggested by Mr. Newlon was as follows: "The City of Casselberry is a community that provides high quality service through dynamic leadership, strategic thinking, prudent resource management, and effective partnerships with our citizens and businesses." CONSENSUS: After a brief discussion, Commission agreed by consensus to adopt the suggested Mission Statement, as presented. Mr. Newlon continued his presentation, explaining that the Vision Statement is a list of statements describing where the City envisions it will be in the next 10 years. He presented the list to the Commission. A copy of the Vision Statement is attached to and made a part of these minutes. Discussion: Discussion ensued regarding the proposed Vision Statement and various suggestions were made for possible additions and substitutions to some of the wording; however, at the end of the discussion, Commission agreed by consensus to leave the wording as presented, with one minor grammatical correction to change the comma to a semicolon after the word "diversity" in the second to the last bullet point. The Commission also commended Mr. Newlon on a job well done in preparation of the Vision Statement. Mr. Newlon presented a proposed Core Value Statement for the Commission's consideration as follows: Core Values The City of Casselberry values... • Honesty, integrity and morality as the foundation of city government • Professionalism as the hallmark of efficient and effective government service Public health, safety and welfare promoted through uniform enforcement of laws and regulations • Fiscal responsibility and sustainability • Environmental stewardship • Quality customer service • A strong sense of community CONSENSUS: The Commission agreed by consensus to approve the Core Value
