CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION <br />Minutes of April 13, 2012 — Retreat/Worhshop <br />Page 6 of 8 <br />Fire/Rescue consolidation <br />Acknowledgment of the County's accomplishments as a governing unit, <br />and expression of appreciation for the County's support of the City and <br />of redevelopment in South Seminole County <br />Brief synopsis of the City's accomplishments and future goals <br />b. Goals for FYI 2-13 <br />Mr. Newlon presented a proposed Mission Statement, a Vision Statement (through 2020), Core Values, and a <br />list of goals and objectives for the Commission's consideration. He advised that the last time these items had <br />been adopted was in 2000. <br />The Mission Statement suggested by Mr. Newlon was as follows: <br />"The City of Casselberry is a community that provides high quality service through dynamic leadership, <br />strategic thinking, prudent resource management, and effective partnerships with our citizens and businesses." <br />CONSENSUS: After a brief discussion, Commission agreed by consensus to adopt the <br />suggested Mission Statement, as presented. <br />Mr. Newlon continued his presentation, explaining that the Vision Statement is a list of statements describing <br />where the City envisions it will be in the next 10 years. He presented the list to the Commission. A copy of <br />the Vision Statement is attached to and made a part of these minutes. <br />Discussion: Discussion ensued regarding the proposed Vision Statement and various suggestions were <br />made for possible additions and substitutions to some of the wording; however, at the end of the discussion, <br />Commission agreed by consensus to leave the wording as presented, with one minor grammatical correction to <br />change the comma to a semicolon after the word "diversity" in the second to the last bullet point. The <br />Commission also commended Mr. Newlon on a job well done in preparation of the Vision Statement. <br />Mr. Newlon presented a proposed Core Value Statement for the Commission's consideration as follows: <br />Core Values <br />The City of Casselberry values... <br />• Honesty, integrity and morality as the foundation of city government <br />• Professionalism as the hallmark of efficient and effective government service <br />Public health, safety and welfare promoted through uniform enforcement of laws and regulations <br />• Fiscal responsibility and sustainability <br />• Environmental stewardship <br />• Quality customer service <br />• A strong sense of community <br />CONSENSUS: The Commission agreed by consensus to approve the Core Value <br />
