Mayor Glancy advised that the Commission is willing to help him to be successful with <br />development of his properties; however, they have been looking at the issue of the flyover for a long time and <br />have considered the positives and negatives and see it as a positive thing for the area. She added that the <br />Commission is committed to the flyover project and what the future of the area will be, especially now that a <br />construction date has been set and there is a commitment for funding. <br />6. RECESS <br />The Commission meeting recessed at 12:37 p.m. <br />The Commission meeting reconvened at 12:49 p.m. <br />City /County Interests and Issues <br />Mr. Newlon reminded the Commission that there had been discussion at earlier meetings about the possibility <br />of arranging a joint meeting between the County and the City Commission, and this item would present an <br />opportunity to discuss what issues the Commission would like to address at such a meeting. In response to a <br />question from Mr. Newlon, City Clerk Donna Gardner explained that her recollection of past joint meetings <br />with the County were usually limited in scope and addressed only a few items in a discussion format, rather <br />than action being taken. Mr. Newlon presented the following list of proposed topics for the Commission's <br />consideration: <br />1. <br />CRA Extension <br />2. <br />Fire/Rescue Consolidation <br />3. <br />Pipebursting <br />4. <br />Joint Redevelopment Opportunities <br />5. <br />Annexation <br />6. <br />School Closure <br />7. <br />Charter Tax <br />8. <br />School Concurrency <br />9. <br />Local Option Gas Tax <br />10. <br />Naming the Flyovers <br />Discussion: A lengthy discussion ensued regarding various topics to be potentially discussed at a joint <br />meeting with the Seminole County Commission. <br />CONSENSUS: The City Commission agreed by consensus to plan for a joint meeting <br />with the Seminole County Commission, and to include the following as <br />discussion items on the joint meeting agenda: <br />Extension of the CRA & joint redevelopment /partnering opportunities <br />between the City and County <br />
