CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION <br />Minutes of April 13, 2012 — Retreat/Workshop <br />Page 7 of 8 <br />Statement as presented. <br />Mr. Newlon presented a list of goals and objectives to the Commission, explaining that the goals were general <br />goals that will carry on beyond next year, followed by a series of objectives related to each goal which will be <br />pursued in the next fiscal year. A copy of the list of Goals and Objectives is attached to and made a part <br />of these minutes. <br />CONSENSUS: The Commission agreed by consensus to accept the list of Goals, as presented. <br />Discussion: A lengthy discussion ensued regarding the suggested goals and objectives. After discussion, <br />the Commission suggested the following changes to the Objectives: <br />Goal 3, Objective 3: add "or other similar ideas" after the phrase "indoor amateur sports facility ". <br />Goal 4, Objective 2: add "(including parks and lakes)" after the phrase "neighborhood amenities ". <br />Goal 4, Objective 3: add "including the concept of a community development corporation (CDC)" after the <br />phrase "city's older housing stock ". <br />Goal 4, add "Objective 6: Continue maintenance and enhancement of existing parks." <br />Goal 5, Objective 7: add "with consideration for transit- oriented development" after the phrase "limited to <br />F1exBus ". <br />After a brief discussion regarding Goal 5, Objective 7, Mayor Glancy directed staff to add the naming of the <br />Altamonte SunRail station to the talking points for the joint meeting with the Seminole County Commission. <br />Discussion: A lengthy discussion ensued regarding the goals and objectives presented by Mr. Newlon, <br />after which the Commission suggested items they would like to see addressed in the future, including the <br />following: possibility of a SunRail parking area or transfer /hub bus facility with amenities; rezoning of the <br />North Winter Park Drive area; reducing the cost of water meters for citizens in order to assist with the Green <br />Up initiative; aesthetic standards for the SR 436 /Red Bug Lake Road gateway area; entrance signs and walls <br />for developments as part of the neighborhood improvement program; decorative lighting around the chain of <br />lakes; a bike trail in Carriage Hill Phase 3; decorative lighting along the U.S. 17 -92 corridor; rebate program <br />for people changing from septic to the City system; and proactive public relations measures. <br />At the direction of the Commission, Mr. Martin stated he would work on an additional Objective relating to the <br />rezoning of the Winter Park Drive area and bring it to the Commission for consideration. <br />Mayor Glancy commended staff for doing a great job on the presentations. Mr. Newlon added his thanks to <br />everyone who contributed. <br />
