• City should work to sell off its property to put it on the tax rolls, acting as the <br />driver, proactive, quick and kind. Efforts to eliminate the development fees will <br />create advantages. <br />• Continue to make the area a focal point developing the IDEA Business Park <br />identity through attractive signage and landscaping. <br />The six -week "New Horizons: Entrepreneurship for the Boomer Generation" class <br />sponsored by the City of Casselberry and Seminole State College, wrapped up on <br />April 9th. Staff is planning a second 6 -week course "Boomer Entrepreneurship" to be <br />held at Seminole State College in beginning in late September or early October. <br />In preparation to approach Seminole County with the 10 year extension request, staff <br />completed the text redraft of the CRA Plan in conjunction with the CRA Board. Next <br />step is to update the illustrations for the plan and to review the proposed plan update <br />with the City Commission. <br />A member of the Police Department participated and /or attended in the following <br />events: <br />• Conducted four (4) crime presentation presentations <br />• Attended two (2) homeowner association meetings <br />• Installed three (3) child seat installs and conducted six (6) child seat install <br />classes <br />• Registered and installed an additional nine (9) lock boxes; the total number <br />registered and installed is now seventy -six (76) <br />• Attended one (1) community event <br />• Registered and additional sixty -one (61) business for the Department's E -Biz <br />business notification system; the total number of businesses registered now is <br />421 <br />• Assisted in providing assistance in twenty -one (21) elderly affairs <br />investigations <br />• Received requests to assist forty -two (42) elderly residents of the City of <br />Casselberry <br />• Self— initiated twelve (12) elderly affairs investigations <br />• Attended seven (7) professional association meetings (SafeKids, TRIAD, <br />Elderly Intervention Team, etc.) <br />Police staff continues to actively participate and attended City events and meetings as a <br />means of supporting the development of public - private partnerships. A member of the <br />Police Department participated and /or attended seven (7) community events, conducted <br />seven (7) child restraint education classes, two (2) Elderly Intervention Team meetings, <br />two (2) Safe Kids Association meetings, three (3) homeowner association meetings, <br />installed and registered eighteen (18) residents for the "lock box" program, and registered <br />22 businesses during 2 I quarter (for a total of 399) for the Police Departments "E -Biz" <br />notification program, conducted a "bank robbery" training seminar for Federal Trust Bank, <br />attended a meeting at Christian Help to discuss a possible partnership regarding job /food <br />pantry assistance for City residents in financial crisis, and partnered with Metro Life <br />Church in providing assistance to sixteen (16) residents with minor home repairs and <br />property clean -up. <br />Staff collaborated regarding concepts and drainage for the City -owned industrial lots and <br />the City Center property, and continued to evolve the vision and strategy for development <br />of the IDEA Business Park. Components include creation of a logo, development of a <br />
