• The Orlando Concert Band (50 members) and vocalist performed at Lake <br />Concord Park to delight the audience who came out to welcome Valentine's Day <br />weekend and listen to the program, "That's Amore ". <br />• Staff continues to implement programs such as "Movies in the Park" as well as <br />work with the Casselberry Little League to ensure healthy community activities are <br />provided for residents of all ages. <br />• Creative workshops in various art media and dance classes continued to be <br />offered for both youth and adults. <br />• Security was provided at all of the City- sponsored events held in Lake Concord <br />Park during the second quarter of FY 10/11. The Police Department has <br />continued its practice of placing a "community relations" table at these events and <br />has distributed community safety material to the attendees. <br />• The City hosted a Latin Jazz concert in Lake Concord Park in February, featuring <br />Arturo Sandoval. The concert was attended by approximately 8,000 spectators. <br />o Staff continues to implement use of the "Green Up Casselberry" brand. This logo <br />has been used on websites and other publications promoting the Earth Day event <br />scheduled for April 23, 2011, being held in conjunction with "Keep Seminole <br />Beautiful" in Lake Concord Park, as well as educational programs related to <br />Florida Friendly Landscaping. <br />o In January, Martin Luther King Day was celebrated with a day of service as <br />volunteers joined together for a trail blazing project at Plumosa Oaks Park by <br />expanding the existing nature trail so that it connects to the sidewalk on the <br />southwest side of the park. <br />o Also in January, volunteers participated in an air potato raid at Wirz Park, <br />collecting 1173 pounds of the invasive potatoes. <br />`ist Quarter Pr ®press <br />Staff has developed and deployed a new series of logos for the "Green Up Casselberry" <br />program and is expanding use of this "brand" to encompass sustainable events and <br />programs beyond simple tree planting. Submissions for Tree City USA recertification and <br />Growth Award consideration were also completed. <br />The City applied for and was subsequently awarded the 2010 Friends of Our Urban <br />Forest Award for Lake Concord Park from the Florida Urban Forestry Council. <br />Staff has had several meetings to develop the niche strategy.
