Sole Source Purchase of a Stryker Power Load System for Rescue 25
Introduction: Consideration for the sole source purchase of a Stryker Power Load System (power- loading, cot
fastening system) in the amount of $23,000 from Stryker EMS Equipment for retrofit installation into Rescue
25 is requested. Installation costs are not included by installation will be accomplished utilizing the Fire
Department's Fleet Maintenance Agreement with the City of Winter Park.
Budget Impact: Funds to cover the purchase of the Power Load System from Stryker EMS Equipment for an
amount not to exceed $23,000 were budgeted and are available in the Fire Department's Machinery &
Equipment/Other Equipment account #001 - 0310 - 522.67 -35.
Recommendation: The City Manager and the Fire Chief recommended approval for the purchase of a Stryker
Power Load System in the amount of $23,000.
Purchase of Bicycles and Ancillary Equipment using Federal Forfeiture Funds and
Related Budget Amendment # 13 -014
Introduction: Consideration to purchase four (4) mountain bicycles and ancillary equipment for use by the
Police Department at a total cost of $5,250 and related Budget Amendment #13 -014 is requested.
Budget Impact: The impact to the budget is an increase to IRS /Secret Service Forfeiture Fund, Other Fines
and Forfeit account #121- 0000 - 359.40 -00 and Other Equipment account #121- 0610 - 521.67 -35 in the amount
of $5,250. The revenue account is increased because collected revenue for FY 2013 already exceeds that
which was budgeted by the amount needed to authorize the purchase.
BA #13 -014
Explanation of Request: This item seeks City Commission approval to provide funding for costs associated
to purchase four (4) police mountain bicycles and their ancillary equipment. The addition of a police mountain
bike to the marked patrol vehicle has greatly enhanced the Casselberry Police Officer's ability to interact with
the business and residential members of our community, while still performing their patrol responsibilities. In
addition, the mountain bike has provided the officers with the means to access areas which are inaccessible by
a patrol vehicle. This purchase will allow the Police Department to replace bicycles ten (10) years or older
currently utilized by day shift patrol squads to achieve both uniformity and its goal. The use of Federal Law
Enforcement Trust Funds — Department of Treasury, for such purchase is permissible.
Account Number Account Description Amount
Increase:
121- 0000 - 359.40 -00 Other Fines & Forfeiture /Other $5,250
121 - 0610 - 521.67 -35 Capital Outlay /Other Equipment $5,250
Recommendation: The City Manager and the Police Chief recommended approval for the purchase of four
(4) patrol bicycles and ancillary equipment in the amount of $5,250 and related Budget Amendment #13-014.
