Budget Amendment 412 -057 - Emergency Replacement /Purchase of a Hach
Turbidity Meter
Introduction: Consideration of Budget Amendment #12 -057 in the amount of $2,628 to appropriate funds
within the proper account as a result of the emergency replacement /sole source purchase of a Hach turbidity
meter for the Water Reclamation Facility is requested.
Budget Impact: There is no impact to the City Budget overall. Funds ($2,628) are simply being reallocated
from an operating account (Repairs and Maintenance, 407 - 0753 - 535.46 -00) to a capital account (Pumps and
Related Equipment, 401 - 0753 - 535.67 -76).
BA #12 -057
Explanation of Request: This item seeks City Commission approval to provide funding for costs associated
with the purchase of a turbidity meter due to failure of the previous meter. The meter monitors the suspended
particles in the treated wastewater by measuring the loss of transparency of the water. Turbidity is measured
on a continuous basis (24/7) to alert operators of any potential problems which impact the quality of the
reclaimed water being supplied to customers. This capital purchase is necessary to eliminate the considerable
amount of staff time required to man the plant (from 24 hrs a day down to 16 hrs per day). This budget
amendment will provide sufficient funding, within the proper capital account, for the City to execute a
purchasing agreement with Hach Company in the amount of $2,628.
Account Number Account Description Amount
Increase:
401- 0753 - 535.67 -76 Pumps and Related Equipment $2,628
Decrease:
401 - 0753 - 535.46 -00 Repair and Maintenance $2,628
