Brownfields Cleanup Grant Application <br />Introduction: Consideration to submit an application far• a United States Environmental Protection Agency <br />(US EPA) Brownfields Cleanup Grant for the purpose of obtaining federal funds to provide financial <br />assistance for environmental cleanup of the Casselberry Police Station site is requested. <br />Budget Impact: There is no impact to the City Budget at this time. Estimated costs to clean the Police <br />Station site range from $475,000 to $600,000. The City's current Brownfields Assessment Grant Program cost <br />ob site work visits (approximately $40,000). The City has also submitted application to the Florida <br />Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) -Petroleum Cleanup Participation Program. If approved, <br />FDEP will provide the City approximately $450,000 to fund 75% of the estimated clean up costs. If the US <br />EPA Brownfields Cleanup Grant is approved, it will cover the remaining $150,000 of the estimated costs. <br />Recommendation: The City Manager and the Community Development Director recommended approval to <br />submit an application for a United States Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) Brownfields Cleanup <br />Grant. <br />C. Budget Amendment #12-009 -Use of State Law Enforcement Trust Funds for <br />Purchase of Crime Prevention Material <br />Introduction: Consideration of Budget Amendment # 12-009 for the purchase of crime prevention material <br />from the State Law Enforcement Trust Fund in the mount of $4,002 is requested. <br />Budget Impact: Funds are available in the Police Department Account No. 104-0610-521.49-00. <br />BA# 12-009: <br />Explanation of Request: During Fiscal Year 2012 the Police Department will be hosting and assisting with <br />numerous crime prevention presentations and classes. hl order to properly and professionally conduct such <br />meetings and classes, it is necessary to have crime prevention material available to inform the public. The <br />Florida Contraband Forfeiture Act requires "...any law enforcement agency that acquires at least $15,000 <br />pursuant to the Florida Contraband Forfeiture Act within a fiscal year must expend or donate no less than 15 <br />percent of such proceeds for the support or operation of any drug treatment, drug abuse education, drug <br />prevention, crime prevention, safe neighborhood, or school resource officer program(s).
