CASSiJLBIJRRY CITY COMMISSION <br />Minutes of December 12, 2011- Regular Meeting <br />Page 10 of 13 <br />Staff Presentation: Ms. Barbara Lipscomb, City Manager stated Resolution 11-2330 recognizes the service <br />that former Commissioner Susan Doerner pl•ovided to the City of Casselberly from November 2002 through <br />November 2011. It was noted that Ms. Doerner was unable to attend the meeting. <br />Audience Input: No one came far•ward to address Resolution 11-2330. <br />MOTION: Commissioner Hufford moved to approve Resolution 11-2330, as pl•esented. <br />Motion was seconded by Commissioner Aramendia. <br />DISCUSSION: Commissioner Hufford commended former Commissioner Doerner for her many <br />accomplishments and efforts throughout her years of service to the City. <br />Motion carried unanimously by voice vote 5 - 0. <br />1 T E ITE S <br />A. Selection of Vice Mayor <br />Staff Presentation: Ms. Barbara Lipscomb, City Manager, stated Article 1V, Section 4.05 ofthe City Charter <br />requires the City Commission to annually elect from its members a Vice Mayor who shall hold office for a term <br />of (1) year or until a successor is elected. <br />MOTION: Commissioner Miller moved to elect Commissioner Colleen Hufford as Vice <br />Mayor. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Aramendia. Motion carried <br />unanimously by voice vote 5 - 0. <br />1 ISCiTI l~ ITE <br />A. Future Agenda Items <br />Commissioner Miller requested the Commission consider naming the Recreation Center after Ms. Valerie <br />Barber-Simpson, who recently passed away. Commission consensus was to discuss renaming the Recreation <br />Center and possible alternative methods of honoring Ms. Barber-Simpson at a future meeting, date to be <br />determined. <br />Vice Mayor Hufford suggested a firture workshop be held to discuss the various redevelopment and zoning <br />challenges of the west side during the current economy and impacts that commuter rail may have on the area. <br />Commission consensus was to schedule a workshop in that regard, date to be determined. <br />Vice Mayor Hufford inquired if staff could look at areas on the west side that currently do not have sidewalks <br />and assess whether or not there is sufficient right-of--way and funding to install sidewalks in those areas. <br />Commissioner Aramendia stated he would like to better pedestrian connections from U. S. Highway 17-92 to <br />the various neighborhoods located on the west side adjacent to the highway. The City Manager stated she <br />
