CASSi;LB1;RRY CITY COMMISSION <br />D4inutes of October 10, 2011- Regular Meeting <br />Page 7 of 13 <br />BA# 12-002: <br />Explanation of Request: This item seeks City Commission approval to utilize $6,138 from the State Law <br />Enforcement Trust Fund for the purpose of purchasing five (5) "half-cage" prisoner vehicle partitions. These <br />partitions are designed to accommodate the taller Officers while separating the prisoner from the Officer. The <br />"half-cages" also eliminate the prisoner's ability to turn their body sideways eliminating their ability to kick the <br />windows. The cost per item was obtained via the City of Tallahassee's contract number 1489 and proposal <br />number 0233-BM-06-TC. The amendment to the budget is an increase of $6,138 to both the Small Tools & <br />Minor Equipment and Others Non-Operating Sources accounts. <br />Account IOTumber Account Description Amount <br />INCREASE: <br />104-0610-521.67-56 Vehicle Equipment $ 6,138 <br />INCREASE: <br />104-0000-389.90-00 OtherNon-Operating Sources $ 6,138 <br />Recommendation: The City Manager and the Police Chief recommended approval of Budget Amendment <br /># 12-002. <br />Budget Amendment #12-003 -Recognition of Grant Proceeds for Purchase of <br />Bicycle Patrol Equipment <br />Introduction: Consideration of Budget Amendment # 12-003 to recognize grant proceeds of $12,808 awarded <br />for the purchase of police patrol bicycle and related equipment is requested. <br />Budget Impact: Budget Amendment # 12-003 is submitted for City Commission approval increasing revenue <br />account number #001-0000-334.22-01 (JAG Grants) by $12,808. Spending accounts to be increased include <br />#001-0610-521.67-35 (Machinery & Equipment- Other) $6,680; #001-0610-521.56-00 (Small Tools & Minor <br />Equipment) $1,552; and #001-0610-521.52-00 (Operating Supplies) $4,576. <br />BA# 12-003 <br />Explanation of Request: On July 13, 2011, the City Commission approved the grant application through the <br />Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program (CFDA # 16.73 8) to purchase police patrol bicycles <br />and other related equipment. On August 15, 2011, the Police Department received notification that the Office <br />of Justice Program had approved the application in the amount of $12,808. Based upon City Commission <br />approval and the subsequent award, the Casselbeny Police Department will purchase police pah•ol bicycles and <br />related equipment under the approved project titled: "Alternate Vehicles far• Community Policing <br />Enhancement Initiative", award #2011-DJ-BX-2326. This budget amendment will increase accounts in the <br />Police Public Safety/Law Enforcement division and recognize the grant revenue in account #001-0000-334.22- <br />O1. There is no impact to the General Fund. <br />
