The firms selected will have a continuing services <br />contract with the City); firms expected to be selected in February 2010. <br />Boating Improvement Grant- the Parks &Rec Dept. has received a Boating <br />Improvement Grant to construct an additional geotube in Middle to <br />North Lake Triplet canal this year (tentatively by February 2010). The <br />initial geotube project was constructed in 2008. The City is also preparing <br />an application (to submit this month) for the next grant cycle. The Board <br />was polled for suggestions of projects (directly related to the Blueway <br />Trail) that could be submitted for the upcoming grant cycle or the <br />following grant cycle; ideas ranged from roadside signage identifying the <br />lake to a courtesy launch site for canoes and kayaks at Secret Lake Park. <br />Dredging of canals was also discussed. signage will be suggested for this <br />grant cycle (2010-2011). The Parks &Rec Dept. will also be accepting <br />more ideas this coming summer for the next (2011-2012) grant cycle; <br />more extensive discussion with the LMAB will be held at that time. <br />® Grassy Lake Revegetation- In light of recent discoveries brought to the <br />City's attention by Clear Channel (owners of the billboard signage <br />adjacent to Grassy Lake), the new cypress trees planted near the billboard <br />signage will be transplanted. It was determined that these trees will grow <br />(in some 20-40 years from now) to a height that will potentially obstruct <br />I the view of the signage board. There has also been a delay on the <br />installation of a fountain in this lake. A budget does currently exist for the <br />installation of the fountain (Stormwater Utility Fund/ CRA Fund). <br />® Seasonai efueway Traii for Quintuplet Chain of Lakes- there has been only <br />a preliminary discussion on this concept by City staff; no further action is <br />currently planned. <br />Lake Jesup BMAP (Basin Management Action Plan) -this is a multi- <br />jurisdictional endeavor; a draft agreement has been completed and is <br />under review. City staff will be meeting with the Florida Department of <br />Environmental Protection in the upcoming week and the draft will <br />possibly be adopted by February 2010. Until then, the City will need to <br />approve a resolution of support. <br />Storm Drain Markings- generic storm drain markers (with the message <br />"No Dumping -Drains to Lake") were obtained by the City. Residents of <br />Sausalito have volunteered to disseminate the markers, placing them on <br />storm drains as a public education tool. City crews are also installing the <br />markers elsewhere in the City. There was a brief discussion about the <br />stickers and if whether or not the stickers were standard or were able to <br />be customized to meet the needs of the City. <br />® Street Sweeper Purchase- the City has purchased a new street sweeper <br />equipped with a vacuum. This state-of-the-art sweeper will allow the City <br />~ to remove roadway debris and prevent more pollutants from entering the <br />3 <br />
