CasselberLy may apply directly to <br />EDA under the umbrella of the ECFRPC CEDS. <br />II. PURPOSE Old STUDY <br />The purpose of the study is to e~craIuate the traffic impacts and benefits of alternative <br />intersection sketch designs otn trafftc flow through the intersection as well as their ability to <br />create faun nodes of economic redevelopment in the CRA quadrants surrounding the <br />intersection. <br />This study is intended to: <br />Develop alternate interim intersection designs for the US Route 17-92 and State <br />Route 436 intersection that could: <br />a.) improve tra£ftc function no~v, since the FDOT-proposed US 17--92 <br />flyover of SR 436 is being planned £ox 2025 and there are traffic issues <br />within Casselberry in the iiterin; <br />b.) protect viable neighborhoods from vacancy and blight caused in part by <br />FDOT right of way accjLUSitiotn for the proposed flyover; <br />c.} retair and stimulate economic development within tlne Casselberry CRA <br />by improving traffic flow and turtung movements while creating four <br />quadrants of econotx~ic development around the intersection; <br />d.} create a sense of place and cotnmunits= identity through better <br />intersection design and redevelopment; <br />e.} precede and influence the Seminole County CRA. Use FDOT-approved software models {or other methods as recommended by <br />FDOT) to review the efficiency and anticipated operational characteristics of the <br />alternate intersection designs. <br />3.
