Mr. Jones seconded <br /> <br /> <br />The <br /> <br /> <br />unanimously by voice vote. <br /> <br />Eighth Item of Business: Facade Grant Request - Amaya Papaya Daycare <br /> <br />Ms. Yolonda Tyler, owner, stated that it is indoor playground and not a daycare <br /> <br />Mr. Paradise <br /> <br />reviewed the request for design incentive approval and requested the CRA <br /> <br />$1,745 to pay <br /> <br /> <br />match <br /> <br />the sign (a copy of the fagade grant request is on file in the Community Development Department). Mr. Jones made <br /> <br />a motion to approve the grant request as presented. A general discussion ensued regarding the proposed sign <br /> <br />the site. Ms. Tyler stated that the proposed sign is illuminated and it is not a neon sign. Mr. McGregor seconded <br /> <br />motion. <br /> <br />Ms. Tyler stated that Amaya Papaya is an indoor playground party enrichment center ages 0 - 5 years <br /> <br />old. She said that it is geared towards education development. <br /> <br />A general discussion ensued regarding using the grant program to pay for signage. The motion passed <br /> <br />unanimously by voice vote. A brief discussion ensued regarding the sign materials, the use of neon and <br /> <br />approval of the sign based on what was presented in the meeting packet. The Board suggested adding <br /> <br />signage to the Facade Grant Brochure. <br /> <br />Ninth Item of Business: Architectural Services Contract - Discussion <br /> <br />Mr. Paradise said the architectural services contract is part of the effort for the facade grant program. <br /> <br />said the City would like to provide a method to show businesses along the corridor what could done to improve <br /> <br />their property. He said an architectural firm would use the photographs taken by the City to provide an individual <br /> <br />drawing of the site showing potential improvements that could be done to improve the appearance of the buildings <br /> <br />along the CRD corridor. He said that it may entice some of the businesses to take advantage of the facade grant <br /> <br />prograrn to improve their properties. He said it would cost about $21,000 to complete the drawings for the properties <br /> <br />in the corridor. Mr. Paradise said meetings would be conducted with the businesses to discuss the possible <br /> <br />improvements to the appearance of their business. <br /> <br />A general discussion ensued regarding determining the interest of the property owners in pursuing <br /> <br />improvements to their property, the hiring of an intern to review existing site plans to determine that the siles are in <br />
