Mr. Cruz will also ask the CRA for funding approval to widen Quail Pond Circle and also for the
new lights to be installed in the park.

The boardwalk will be constructed due to the lower cost of building the park. The original
estimate was $4 million, but it actually came in at $2.3 million. The material that will be used is
called Moisture Seal, a composite board; the color chosen is "cedar". The boardwalk will be
constructed up to the north and west part of Lake Concord and will connect with the sidewalk at
the end.

Butch Spence asked if an updated plan was available. Mr. Cruz replied that he would bring the
updated plan to the next board meeting.

June HelTOn asked if there was a process for any organizations wanting to donate an item for the
park. Mr. Cruz said that there is no fonnal process; volunteers and donations are always
welcomed. Anyone interested donating an item for the park should contact Mr. Cruz.

Tree Planting Proiect
A tree grant for $5000 has been received. The City will match this grant. A total of thirty eight
trees will need to be planted. Twelve live oak trees have already gone in at Secret Lake Park
along the canal back by the soccer field and others have been planted near the basketball court.
The remainder of the trees will be planted in Lake Concord Park.

Twenty one bald cypress trees have been planted on the shoreline of Dew Drop Park.

Phyllis Sheppard asked if the trees will need to pruned/maintained by maintenance stat I. Mr.
Cruz replied that these trees won't be pruned unless needed in an emergency or bad weather.
Otherwise, they will remain in a natural state and will provide an urban type forest.

Butch Spence mentioned that he often walks on the boardwalk at Secret Lake Park and asked if
there would be any restoration work done. Mr. Cruz said that the damaged wood boards have
been replaced. The boardwalk still needs to be pressure washed.

Bike Trail Update
The City Commission voted to permanently close the proposed Bluebell section of the bike trail
due to trespassing problems in that area. The bike trail master plan was passed out to the Board
and the section was pointed out.

Phyllis Sheppard made a motion to amend the bike trail master plan, taking the Bluebell section
out. Butch Spence seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously 4-0.

Mr. Cruz will need to come up with some options connecting the bike trail to the City Center.

Mr. Cruz is working on putting Phase lout to design. The final construction plans for Phase II
should be received next week.

June Herron asked if the legal matters which were discussed during the last meeting have been
cleared up. Mr. Cruz replied that the only legal matter remaining is an easement that needs to be
done for the area behind the school.

2
