<br />Manager's Report: <br />. Bike Trail Construction Update <br />a Things are moving along slowly. Mr. Cruz has spoken to Glatting Jackson and is <br />waiting for the plans and peImit from St. John's Water Management district. <br />a The City has received a $250,000 grant (Local Area Program Agreement) from <br />FDOT for the design of phase one. <br />a Butch Spence asked if anyone had approached Progress Energy about partnering in <br />the project. Mr. Cruz replied that he had brought this up in discussions with them. <br />a The target date to begin construction of phase two is April/May 2009. <br /> <br />. Seminola Park Concept Update <br />a This project is on hold until further direction from the City Manager. <br />a The City won't qualify for the acquisition grant and will need to look at other options. <br /> <br />. Youth Soccer 2009 <br />a The Fall 2008 Youth Soccer season, which was outsourced to i9 Sports, seems to <br />have done very well. Over 250 children participated in the league. <br />a i9 Sports will be running the Spring 2009 Soccer season. <br /> <br />. Little League <br />a Little League seems to be recovering and doing well. <br />a Many of the field maintenance expenses are now paid for in part by the League. <br /> <br />. Lake Hodge Park <br />a The City will be receiving $7800 from FEMA to repair the basketball and tennis <br />courts at Lake Hodge Park. <br />a Phyllis Sheppard asked if the cause of the excessive flooding was found. Mr. Cruz <br />replied that it may be due to a drainage pipe in the County section of the lake which <br />was never finished off due to an easement problem. Public Works is working to get <br />this problem taken care of. <br /> <br />. Kayak/Canoe Concession <br />a Mr. Cruz passed out the kayak/canoe brochures and rental forms to the board for <br />reVIew. <br />a To date, there haven't been any kayak or canoe rentals. <br />a Improvements have been made to the launch area including rocks, landscaping, and a <br />kayak/canoe rack. <br />a Mr. Cruz would like to apply for a $20,000 grant through Seminole County's boating <br />improvement program to finish off the shoreline with eco tubing. He'd also like to <br />add protective screening for boaters at the canal between Middle Lake Triplet and <br />South Lake Triplet. <br />a Butch Spence made a motion to support the grant project. June Herron seconded the <br />motion. The motion carried unanimously 4-0. <br /> <br />2 <br />
