<br />CASSELBERRY PARKS & RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD <br />Casselberry Recreation Center <br />200 N. Triplet Lake Dr., Casselberry, FL 32707 <br /> <br />A regular meeting of the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board was held Tuesday, January 13, <br />2009 at the Casselberry Recreation Center located at 200 N. Triplet Lake Dr. Butch Spence <br />called the meeting to order at 7:09 P.M. <br /> <br />Board Members Present: <br />Butch Spence, Phyllis Sheppard, June Herron, Liz Torres <br /> <br />Board Members Absent: <br />Sheryl Mays-Woods (resigned) <br /> <br />Staff Present: <br />Luis Cruz (Parks and Facilities Manager), Alicia Kardell (Parks and Recreation Office Assistant) <br /> <br />Audience Present: <br />Dana Callan, John Casselberry, Ashuantay Houston <br /> <br />Approval of Minutes: <br />June Herron made a motion to approve the December 9th minutes as written. Liz Torres seconded <br />the motion. The motion carried unanimously 4-0. <br /> <br />Lake Concord Park <br />Construction of Lake Concord Park was officially approved at last night's (1112/09) City <br />Commission meeting. The winning bid was awarded to APEC Construction. This company also <br />did the City Hall parking lot and roundabout construction. <br /> <br />Mr. Cruz has ordered many of the pieces to be included in the new park including the benches, <br />trash cans, bike racks, water feature, and playground equipment. <br /> <br />The company that has brought the design plans to 100% is CDM. Mr. Cruz is happy to report <br />that the boardwalk feature has once again been included in the design plan. <br /> <br />June Herron asked if the sculpture garden was still in the park plans. Mr. Cruz replied that it <br />would be included. Ms. Herron also asked if the park grounds would be ready for the next <br />outdoor concert. Mr. Cruz replied that it would not be ready; the next concert is scheduled for <br />February 21 sr, 2009 in the field across from City Hall. <br /> <br />Tree City Recertification <br />The City of Casselberry has been awarded a 2nd Year Tree City USA Certification by the Arbor <br />Day Foundation. "2nd Year" will be added to the existing signs throughout the City. <br /> <br />Phyllis Sheppard asked about the types of trees that have been planted. Mr. Cruz replied that the <br />City has tried to use Florida natives. Live oak, grand cypress, slash pine, loblolly, red maple and <br />magnolia trees have been planted. <br /> <br />1 <br />
