<br />CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION <br />Minutes of December 8, 2008 - Regular Meeting <br />Page 12 of24 <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Doerner requested that item D be removed from the Consent Agenda for discussion and separate <br />consideration. <br /> <br />MOTION: <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Hufford moved to approve the Consent <br />Agenda as amended by removing Item (D) Cooperative <br />Purchase of Site Furnishings for Lake Concord Park <br />(Anniversary Park) for separate discussion and <br />consideration. Motion was seconded by Commissioner <br />MiUer. Motion carried unanimously by voice vote <br />5- O. <br /> <br />D. Cooperative Purchase of Site Furnishings for Lake Concord Park ( Anniversarv Park) <br /> <br />Introduction: This items requests approval for a cooperative purchase of site furnishings from Wabash <br />Valley Manufacturing, Inc. for Lake Concord (Anniversary) Park utilizing the School District of Vol usia <br />County Teaching Aids, Equipment and Supplies Discount Contract. <br /> <br />Budget Impact: The impact to the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) capital outlay budget will <br />be $7,809 for the twenty (20) round picnic tables; $14,364 for the eighty (80) ribbed arm chairs; $4,104 for <br />the ten (10) Lucaya-style one-piece pole market umbrellas; $465.50 for the five (5) umbrella stands; <br />$2,139.40 for material surcharge and $2,083.94 for freight. The total amount is $30,965.84. Funding is <br />available in the CRA capital outlay park development Account No. 113-0210-515.63-62. <br /> <br />Recommendation: The City Manager, the Administrative Services Director, and the Community <br />Development Director recommended approval of the cooperative purchase of site furnishings for Lake <br />Concord Park (Anniversary Park). <br /> <br />Discussion: Commissioner Doerner reiterated her concerns regarding the placement of the cafe area close <br />to City Hall and thought it should be farther from the building so that residents would have more of a sense <br />of being in the park rather than at City Hall, and that the feature was part of the park and not built for City <br />Hall. Commissioner Doerner further stated she wanted to ensure that the entire park is readily accessible at <br />all times for residents, not just on weekends or after business hours. Commissioner Solomon stated she felt <br />visitors to the adjacent Art House will utilize the new park and its amenities, and did not feel the proximity <br />ofthe cafe to City Hall would be a problem. Vice Mayor Hufford stated the current designated smoking area <br />for City Hall is located near the cafe location and requested that it be moved away from that area. The City <br />Manager stated the relocation ofthe designated smoking area would not be a problem, and noted that the cafe <br />area was moved to be in the proximity for watching children playing in the interactive fountain and access <br />to the restrooms in City Hall. <br /> <br />MOTION: <br /> <br />Commissioner Solomon moved to approve Consent <br />Agenda item (D) Cooperative Purchase of Site <br />Furnishings for Lake Concord Park (Anniversary <br />Park), as presented. Motion was seconded by Vice <br />Mayor Hufford. Motion carried unanimously by voice <br />vote 5 - O. <br />
