<br />Section 2-7.10. Fences and walls. <br />Anv wall or fence erected wilhin the Citv sh;;lll meet orofessionallv acceoted buildino standards and <br />the reoulations cited below. (start new paragraph) <br /> <br />For the purpose of this Code the term "fence" shall be used to describe a manmade structure <br />erected for separation, security or privacy purposes through the means of intermittent posts <br />supporting vertical or horizontal members made of wood, metal, vinvl. aluminum. chain link, or <br />barbed wire. While the opacity may vary, the height and location are dictated by the regulations <br />within this ordinance. <br /> <br />A wall may be erected for the same purposes but shall include only those structures with <br />continuous footers. The main structure of the wall may be constructed of brick, stone or concrete <br />block. Building permit required. No fence or wall shall be erected, reolaced or receive maior reoair <br />until a permit for same has been issued. Commercial or industrial fences or walls. Fences or walls may be erected in any commercial <br />or industrial district to provide screenino and/or buffering. The fence or wall height shall not exceed <br />72 incAss six feet above the finished grade. Fences constructed with chain link shall 00 \l5e vinyl <br />clad chain link, either green or black. When other materials are used for fencing, the finished side <br />shall face out. Walls shall be finished similarly on both sides. Barbed wire or similar materials may <br />be used in an industrial district provided the use is limited to a maximum of three strands installed a <br />minimum of six feet above the finished grade. Barbed wire may be used in a commercial district <br />provided a conditional use is granted by the Administrative Official and the use is limited to a <br />maximum of three strands installed a minimum of six feet above the finished grade. <br /> <br />C. Residential fences or walls. In any residential district, no fence or wall shall be erected or <br />project beyond the orooertv maintainsa ri~ht of ','/ay line. For the ouroose of this section of the <br />code. a front vard is defined as the area between those orooerty lines adiacent to the street and <br />the orincioal structure.
