<br />CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION <br />Minutes of April], 2008 - Special Meeting <br />Page 4 of14 <br /> <br />The City Commission shall, in a municipal election year, elect from among its members a <br />Deputy Mayor at the first meeting after all of the newly elected Commissioners are seated. <br />In non-election years, the City Commission shall elect a Deputy Mayor from among its <br />members at the first regular Commission meeting in November. <br /> <br />Consensus: Accept the recommended language for Section 12 as presented. <br /> <br />Section 13. Powers <br /> <br />The Charter Review Advisory Committee recommended the following revised language for Section 13: <br /> <br />Section 13. Powers <br /> <br />All powers of the city shall be vested in the City Commission, except as otherwise <br />provided by law or this charter, and the Commission shall provide for the exercise thereof <br />and for the performance of all duties and obligations imposed on the city by law. <br /> <br />Consensus: Accept the recommended language for Section 13 as presented. <br /> <br />New Section - Compensation: Expenses <br /> <br />The Charter Review Advisory Committee recommended the following new section entitled Compensation; <br />Expenses: <br /> <br />New Section - Compensation; Expenses <br /> <br />The City Commission may determine the annual salary of the mayor and commissioners by <br />ordinance, but no ordinance increasing such salary shall become effective until the date of <br />commencement of the terms of mayor/commissioners elected at the next regular election. <br />The mayor and commissioners shall receive their actual and necessary expenses incurred <br />in the performance of their duties of office. <br /> <br />Discussion: Mayor Goff inquired if the intent was to have the salary of a commissioner raised every four <br />years or every two years. It was noted that as discussed at the March 18, 2008 joint workshop with the <br />Charter Review Advisory Committee, the intent was every two years, if the Commission wanted to discuss <br />pay that frequently. <br /> <br />Consensus: Accept the recommended language for the new Section entitled Compensation; Expenses. <br /> <br />New Section - Prohibitions <br /> <br />The Charter Review Advisory Committee recommended the following new section entitled Prohibitions: <br />
