ORDINANCE 25-1618 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, <br />AMENDING SECTION 7.06, PROCEDURE FOR PLACING NAMES ON <br />BALLOT; ALTERNATIVE METHOD OF QUALIFYING OF ARTICLE VII, <br />ELECTIONS, OF THE CITY CHARTER; CHANGING THE DATE ON <br />WHICH PETITIONS ARE TO BE RECEIVED BY THE CITY AND THE <br />QUALIFYING DATES FOR MAYOR OR CITY COMMISSION <br />CANDIDATES DUE TO A CHARTER AMENDMENT CHANGING THE <br />TIME OF THE ELECTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION <br />MEMBERS TO NOVEMBER; PROVIDING FOR CODIFICATION, <br />CONFLICTS, SEVERABILITY AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to § 100.3605, Fla. Stat., a referendum is not required when changing <br />qualifying dates for members of the governing body; and <br />WHEREAS, the electorate voted to eliminate the runoff election and, therefore, the sole <br />election will be in November, necessitating a change to the qualifying dates; and <br />WHEREAS, words with double underlined type shall constitute additions to the original <br />text and -strike thr- ugh type shall constitute deletions to the original text, and asterisks <br />indicate that text shall remain unchanged from the language existing prior to adoption of this <br />Ordinance. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />SECTION I. AMENDMENT. Section 7.06, Procedure for placing names on ballot; <br />alternative method of qualifying, of Article VII, Elections, of the Charter of the City of Casselberry, <br />Florida, is hereby amended as follows: <br />7C X X <br />Section 7.06. Procedure for placing names on ballot; alternative method of <br />qualifying. <br />Any elector may become a candidate for Mayor or Commissioner by filing with the <br />City Clerk an application to have his/her name printed on the ballot as a candidate for <br />a seat specifically named from 12:00 p.m. Monday through 12:00 p.m. Friday, during <br />regular business hours, for the five-day period during the third full week in May <br />August. Each person seeking election to the City Commission shall pay, at the time <br />of qualifying for office, a qualifying fee to the City Clerk. The amount of the <br />qualifying fee is one percent of the annual salary of the office.
