6) <br /> <br />VEHICLES ~ GENERAL POLICIES ON USE OF CITY VEHICLES <br />CO.~!TR.~.CTED CITY <br /> <br />a) <br /> <br />The Department sp:c!f!c:!!y assigned a non meter pea! vehicle is responsible for <br />maintaining the vehicle in clean condition. Washing of the vehicle w~ may be <br />accomplished using private car wash facilities and paid for out of department petty cash <br />funds with appropriate receipts and proper accounting procedures used, or by other <br />Department resources, as necessary. <br /> <br />b) <br /> <br />Any employee operating a city vehicle or a privately owned vehicle utilized in conducting <br />City business must posses and maintain the appropriate Florida Driver's License and <br />shall observe alt traffic regulations and anti-littering regulations. <br /> <br />c) All City vehicles will have the vehicle registration and insurance carrier card in the vehicle <br /> at all times. <br /> <br />d) <br /> <br />Upon completion of an overnight trip and before returning the vehicle to its assigned <br />location, if the fuel tank is less than half full, the vehicle shall be topped off with fuel at the <br />fueling facility. <br /> <br />e) <br /> <br />Personal use of the vehicle is restricted to the time the employee is on route to or from <br />work (8-hour and 24-hour vehicles on}y). Brief stops, such as to convenience stores on <br />route, are permitted. Using the vehicle to go to a business establishment or other <br />location after returning home is not permitted unless it is an assigned City function or <br />meeting, or unless the employee has been specifically instructed by the City Manager to <br />have the vehicle in his/her possession for immediate response because of special, <br />unique circumstances. Any visit to a legitimate business site while en route to or from <br />work should be brief and should not subject the vehicle to undue danger, nor should said <br />business estabtishment be illegal or land discredit to the City Government or its <br />operations. <br /> <br />f) <br /> <br />Vehicles being driven home as authorized in "24-hour Vehicle Assignment", may deviate <br />from the direct route to and from work or assigned location only for the purpose of picking <br />up City employees in an authorized car pool which requires only minimal deviation from <br />the direct route between work and the residence of the driver. <br /> <br />g) Under no circumstances will persons not employed by the City drive a City vehicle, <br /> except in case of an emergency. <br /> <br />h) <br /> <br />Family members and non-City employees are prohibited from riding in any City assigned <br />vehicle except on official business or under exceptional circumstances and only by <br />permission of the City Manager. <br /> <br />i) Employees authorized to transport their children to daycare utilizinq a City vehicle shall: <br /> <br />i. have approval of the Department Director; and <br /> <br />ii. <br /> <br />obtain at the employee's expense liability coveraqe on the vehicle assiqned to the <br />employee. The City of Casselberry shall be named as an additional insured. <br />insurance limits for such coveraqe will be $100,000/300,000 per occurrence. <br /> <br />1/5/04 $ <br /> <br /> <br />
