<br />Cit Commission Meeting <br />April 17, 2006 <br />Page 3 <br /> <br />Commissioner Cook stated that in her opinion the recruitment for the City Manager should be delayed until <br />after the City Election in November 2006. <br /> <br />Commissioner Hart was also of the opinion that the City Manager selection should be delayed until after the <br />election. She also stated that the search for the Manager should be conducted nation wide. <br /> <br />Commissioner Hufford was of the opinion that the City needed an Interim City Manager with expertise in <br />development and budget to offer stability that will move forward City projects and she favored using the <br />Range Riders to retain an Interim City Manager. <br /> <br />Mayor Goff requested a report from staff regarding existing City projects. The City staff reported that all <br />projects presently in place and the time frame for these projects are all on track and moving forward as <br />scheduled. <br /> <br />Commissioner Doerner stated that the City needed an Interim Manager with redevelopment and budget <br />experience and she favored using the Range Riders to retain an Interim Manager. She also favored waiting <br />until after the election to recruit for a permanent City Manager. <br /> <br />MOTION: <br /> <br />Moved by Commissioner Linda Hart to postpone the selection of a City <br />Manager until after the City Election in November 2006. Motion was seconded <br />by Commissioner Colleen S. Hufford and carried on a 5 - 0 vote. <br /> <br />MOTION: <br /> <br />Moved by Commissioner Linda Hart to appoint John Pavlis as the Interim <br />City Manager. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Kathy Cook and <br />carried on a 3 - 2 vote. Commissioners Doerner and Hufford dissenting. <br /> <br />B. Current Acting City Manager's Salary <br /> <br />In a memo dated April 13, 2006, the Personnel Director stated that Chief Pavlis currently earned $84,833 as <br />Police Chief. She recommended that his salary as Interim City Manager be adjusted to $119,548, which is <br />the same as the previous Interim City Manager's salary. Chief Pavlis will continue to accrue City benefits <br />in accordance with City policies. <br /> <br />MOTION: <br /> <br />Moved by Commissioner Linda Hart to approve a salary of $119,548 for the <br />Interim City Manager. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Colleen S. <br />Hufford and carried on a 5 - 0 vote. <br /> <br />The Personnel Director stated that an employment agreement would be presented to the Commission for <br />consideration at their meeting of April 24, 2006. <br /> <br />8. Commission Reports/Reouests <br /> <br />Mayor Goff read a letter of appreciation from the South Seminole North Orange County Wastewater <br />Transmission Authority regarding the response of the City Utility Crew fortheirquick and capable response <br />to the broken valve at the Eastbrook pump station on April 7, 2006. <br />
