<br />Cit Commission Meeting <br />April 17, 2006 <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />5. Approval of Al!enda <br /> <br />Mayor Goff requested the Agenda be amended to change the order as follows: <br /> <br />A. Discussion Regarding Recruitment Options for the City Manager <br />B. Current Acting City Manager's Salary <br /> <br />MOTION: <br /> <br />Moved by Commissioner Colleen S. Hufford to approve the Agenda as <br />amended. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Linda Hart and carried on <br />a5-0vote. <br /> <br />6. Citizens' Comments <br /> <br />1) Sandi Solomon, 6 Bayberry Branch, Casselberry, Florida, stated that the City lost an outstanding <br />City Manager because of the actions of Mayor Goff, Commissioner Cook and Commissioner Hart. <br />She spoke in favor of a national search to find the best qualified candidate for the City Manager <br />position. <br /> <br />2) John Casselberry, 700 S. Lost Lake Lane, Casselberry, Florida, opined as to the process of filling <br />vacated positions in the City. <br /> <br />3) Keith Rocchi, 371 Violet Dell, Casselberry, Florida, expressed concerns regarding articles in the <br />Orlando Sentinel that purports a dysfunctional/divided City Commission. <br /> <br />7. New Bnsiness <br /> <br />A. Discussion Regarding Recruitment Options for the City Manager Position <br /> <br />Mr. Howard D. Tipton, representing the Florida ICMA Range Riders, gave a presentation regarding services <br />provided by the Range Riders, which is a group offormer City/County Managers that assist commissions <br />with their Manager selection process. The Range Riders work with the City Personnel Department and assist <br />with advertisements and recruitment and this service is offered at no charge to the City. He outlined the <br />process, which includes preliminary screening of applicants that culminates with ten (10) top candidates for <br />consideration by the Commission. He strongly recommended extensive background checks which would be <br />conducted by the City Personnel Department. He also indicated that a member of his group could be <br />available during the interview process. He also offered the services of the Range Riders should the <br />Commission need assistance in hiring an Interim City Manager. <br /> <br />Mr. Gene DeMarie representing Colin Baenziger and Associates, firm which conducted the search for the <br />previous City Manager, stated that the firm has a contractual obligation with the City that guarantees the <br />tenure of a City Manager for at least one (1) year or the firm will conduct another search for a City Manager <br />free of charge. (April 13, 2006 letter distributed to the City Commission is attached to and made a part of <br />these minutes). <br />
