<br />the City Manager has requested a public hearing. <br /> <br />(d) The City Manager shall continue to receive his or her salary until <br /> <br />the effective date of a final resolution of removal. <br /> <br />ARTICLE V. POWERS AND DUTIES <br /> <br />SECTION I. Powers. The City Manager shall be responsible to the City <br /> <br />Commission for the proper administration of all affairs of the City and to <br /> <br />that end shall have the following powers, to wit: <br /> <br />1. To act as conservator of the peace under the direction <br /> <br />of the City Commission and to see that all laws and Ordinances of the City <br /> <br />are duly enforced and to sue in the proper federal, state, and county courts <br /> <br />to ensure enforcement of all laws and Ordinances of the City. <br /> <br />2. To <br /> <br />appoint and, when the City Manager deems it <br /> <br />necessary for the good of the City, suspend or remove City employees, subject <br /> <br />to all pertinent regulations of Civil Service legislation. The City Manager <br /> <br />may also, with approval of the City Commission, hire, suspend, or remove <br /> <br />department head employees, subject to all pertinent regulations of Civil <br /> <br />service legislation. <br /> <br />3. To appoint with approval of the Commission, subject to <br /> <br />all pertinent regulations of Civil Service legislation, the following: <br /> <br />a. Officers not provided for by election; <br />b. Chief of Police and other police officers; <br />c. Fire Chief, subordinate officers and employees. <br /> <br />4. To supervise and direct the affairs of the City <br /> <br />directly under his/her supervision, including all departments and divisions <br /> <br />of City government, all contractual obligations of the City, and fulfillment <br /> <br />of the performance of all City obligations under contract, Charter, <br /> <br />-4- <br />
