<br />Resolution No. 03-1407 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CASSELBERY, FLORIDA <br />IMPLEMENTING PROVISIONS OF FLORIDA STATUTES <br />115.14 FOR FLORIDA NATIONAL GUARD AND MILITARY <br />RESERVISTS EMPLOYED WITH THE CITY OF CASSELBERRY; <br />PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; SEVERABILITY AND <br />EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Casselberry employees have been <br />called to serve in the armed forces; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of <br />Casselberry desires to support all employees of the City of <br />Casselberry who are called to active duty; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Florida Legislature provides in Section <br />115.14 that employees of the state, counties and <br />municipalities or political subdivisions of the state may <br />receive the pay necessary to raise their military pay to <br />the level of their civilian pay and continue their existing <br />benefits; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, on September 25, 2001, Governor Jeb Bush and <br />his Cabinet of the State of Florida passed the resolution <br />to strongly encourage all municipalities to likewise <br />implement the provisions of Military Service Compensation <br />Law for their employees so they will not be faced with a <br />cut in pay while on active duty. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />SECTION I. The City of Casselberry implements the <br />provisions of Florida's Military Service Compensation Law <br />for all regular employees of the City of Casselberry called <br />to active duty as a result of these terrorists acts by <br />authorizing the following: <br /> <br />1. During the first 30 calendar days on active duty, <br />activated employees will receive their City base pay <br />and benefits in addition to their military base pay. <br /> <br />2. After the initial 30 days on active duty, if the <br />military base pay is less than the City's base pay, <br />the City will pay the difference to the activated <br />employee.
