<br />CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION <br />Minutes of April 2S 200S ~ Regular Meeting <br />Page 7 of to <br /> <br />MOTION: <br /> <br />Commissioner Doerner moved to approve Resolution <br />05-1577 as presented. Motion was seconded by Vice <br />Mayor Hart. Motion carried unanimously by voice <br />vote. <br /> <br />C. RESOLUTION 05·1578 - OPPOSING LEGISLATION TO REDUCE CRA FUNDING <br /> <br />The City Clerk read Resolution 05-1578 by title as follows: <br /> <br />"A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, URGING THE <br />LEGISLATURE TO VOTE AGAINST HB 1521 AND SB 2060, IN THAT THIS <br />LEGISLATION WOULD AMEND PART III, CHAPTER 163, FLORIDA STATUTES, <br />WITH THE EFFECT OF SEVERELY REDUCING THE ABILITY OF COMMUNITY <br />REDEVELOPMENT AGENCIES TO ACCOMPLISH THEIR STATUTORY <br />REDEVELOPMENT TASKS." <br /> <br />Staff Presentation: Mr. Wells stated Resolution 05-1578 opposed recent legislative efforts to amend tax <br />increment financing for community redevelopment agencies. Mr. Wells stated the proposed amendments <br />would adversely impact the use of community redevelopment agencies to address redevelopment concerns <br />and dilutes home rule authority. Staff recommended approval of Resolution 05-1578. <br /> <br />Audience Participation: One (I) audience comment request form was received for Resolution 05-1578. <br />The following individual came forward: <br /> <br />I) John Casselberry, 700 South Lost Lake Lane, spoke in opposition to Resolution 05-1578. <br /> <br />MOTION: <br /> <br />Commissioner Doerner moved to approve Resolution <br />05-1578 as presented. Motion was seconded by Vice <br />Mayor Hart. Motiou carried unanimously by voice <br />vote. <br /> <br />D. RESOLUTION 05-1579 - COMMUNITIES FOR A LIFETIME <br /> <br />The City Clerk read Resolution 05-1579 by title as follows: <br /> <br />"A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CASSELBERRY, <br />FLORIDA, SUPPORTING THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF ELDER AFFAIRS <br />COMMUNITIES FOR A LIFETIME; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS, SEVERABILITY <br />AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE." <br /> <br />Staff Presentation: Mr. Fortini stated Resolution 05-1579 supports the Florida Department of Elder Affairs <br />Communities for a Lifetime initiative and the City of Casselberry's shared vision and responsibility to <br />improve the life of all citizens. Staff recommended approval of Resolution 05-1579. <br />
