<br />ARTICLE 2 <br />DUES DEDUCTIONS <br /> <br />2.1 Any member of the USW, who has submitted a properly executed dues deduction card or <br />statement to the City in accordance with a fonnat prescribed or approved by the City, may, by request in <br />writing, have his/her membership dues, initiation fees, and unifonn assessments in the USW deducted <br />from his/her wages on a bi-weekly basis. Dues, assessments, and initiation fees so deducted from each <br />employee's salary shall be forwarded by the City to the USW on a monthly basis. However, the City <br />shall have no responsibility for any liability for any monies once sent to the Union, nor shall the City <br />have any responsibility or a liability for the improper deduction of dues. The USW shall indemnifY the <br />City and hold it harmless against any and all suits, claims, demands, and liabilities which arise out of or <br />by reason of any action taken or not taken by the City to comply or attempt to comply with the provisions <br />of this Article. <br /> <br />2.2 It shall be the responsibility of the USW to notifY the City of any change in the amount of dues to <br />be deducted at least thirty (30) days in advance of said change. Under no circumstances shall the City be <br />required to deduct USW fines, penalties, political action payments, or special assessments of any kind. <br /> <br />2.3 Any member of the USW may, on thirty (30) days written notice to the City, require that the City <br />cease making deductions from his/her/her wages. <br /> <br />2.4 The USW agrees that a reasonable charge for having its dues, initiation fees, and unifonn <br />assessments deducted by the City is twenty-five cents ($.25) per employee per month. Said charges shall <br />be deducted from the amounts forwarded by the City to the USW. <br /> <br />T / A' d Contract <br /> <br />-3- <br />
