<br />City Commission Meeting <br />June 14,2004 <br />Page 6 <br /> <br />Commissioner Hart <br /> <br />· Presented a new concept that is being sponsored by the City of Sanford called <br />Y outhBuild, a program to assist low-income, disadvantaged young adults in distressed <br />communities in completing their high school education. Funding for Y outhBuild USA <br />comes from HUD. <br /> <br />The consensus of Commission was to defer support of the program and allow the City of <br />Sanford to take the lead in supporting the project. The City may possibly wish to participate at <br />some future date. Commission asked that a letter be sent to Y outhBuild relaying its position. <br /> <br />Commissioner Clark <br /> <br />· Inquired as to the status of RFP' s for the Community Center Project <br /> <br />Mr. Clifton stated the request for proposals for the Community Center Project have been <br />advertised in various construction bulletins to include ads in the Orlando Business Journal, the <br />Real Estate Newsletter and the Orlando Sentinel. There have been approximately twelve <br />development groups that have expressed interest in the project. The concept for the development <br />of this property will be complete with the purchase of the Shell Site, which is anticipated to be <br />ready for Commission consideration very shortly. <br /> <br />Mayor Pronovost <br /> <br />· Asked if the City would consider providing the hardware to install reclaimed water <br />instead of the resident supplying the fittings. <br /> <br />Mr. Clifton said there was a liability connected with replacing any equipment on personal <br />property as it relates to maintenance.
