City Commission Meeting
June 14,2004
Page 6

Commissioner Hart

· Presented a new concept that is being sponsored by the City of Sanford called
Y outhBuild, a program to assist low-income, disadvantaged young adults in distressed
communities in completing their high school education. Funding for Y outhBuild USA
comes from HUD.

The consensus of Commission was to defer support of the program and allow the City of
Sanford to take the lead in supporting the project. The City may possibly wish to participate at
some future date. Commission asked that a letter be sent to Y outhBuild relaying its position.

Commissioner Clark

· Inquired as to the status of RFP' s for the Community Center Project

Mr. Clifton stated the request for proposals for the Community Center Project have been
advertised in various construction bulletins to include ads in the Orlando Business Journal, the
Real Estate Newsletter and the Orlando Sentinel. There have been approximately twelve
development groups that have expressed interest in the project. The concept for the development
of this property will be complete with the purchase of the Shell Site, which is anticipated to be
ready for Commission consideration very shortly.

Mayor Pronovost

· Asked if the City would consider providing the hardware to install reclaimed water
instead of the resident supplying the fittings.

Mr. Clifton said there was a liability connected with replacing any equipment on personal
property as it relates to maintenance. The City Manager will have the Public Works Department
research this item further.

City Clerk McPherson - No Report

City Attorney Reischmann - No Report

City Manager Clifton

· A mail out was sent to all residents in the Hunterfield area regarding the Hunterfield
project.
