PUBLIC FUNDING SUPPORT

I. Hurricane Funding Support - Statewide, cities are facing huge financial
outlays to respond to public service needs created by four hUlTÌcanes. Effort
by the state to assist by absorbing a larger portion of the required FEMA match
would be a statewide benefit.

2. Cultural Art Funding - Support for renovation and construction of buildings
and facilities associated with extending the arts to the public.

3. Joint School Use Legislation - Encourage school systems to allow greater use
of school facilities outside of normal school hours and functions to extend
greater public access to these facilities for recreational purposes. The costs
associated with this usage should be to cover utilities and janitorial expenses,
not to supplement educational budgets.

4. Public Facility Funding - As Casselberry pursues a new Community Center
facility, state funding assistance for the facilities and programs would be of
significant value. The City serves both residents and non residents when it
pursues this type of facility and reduces demands upon other governments and
agencies. Requested Funding Support - $1,000,000.

5. Senior Transportation - Funding for senior transportation is a critical need
for those without resources or family to provide assistance.

6. Water Resources Funding - Expensed water reuse systems are not cost
effective and are cost prohibitive. Matching grants are necessary to
supplement construction costs if these programs are to continue. Requested
Funding Support - $2,000,000.

7. Lake and Water Quality Funding Assistance - Consideration needs to be
given to state funding assistance for master planning of water quality programs
and projects that impact areas extending beyond municipal limits. Matching
grants and/or a low interest loan program for land acquisition and buffer zone
establishment would be a positive step to protecting the future of water quality
in Central Florida. Requested Funding Support - $750,000.
