<br />citizens; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in light of recent court decisions, the City desires to amend Chapter <br /> <br />26, Article III, Peddlers and Solicitors, of the Code of Ordinances of the City of <br /> <br />Casselberry in order to insure that the City complies with constitutional requirements; <br /> <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Casselberry wishes to clarify that Chapter 26, Article III, <br /> <br />does not apply to religious proselytizing, anonymous political speech and distribution of <br /> <br />handbills for no charge; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City finds that in recent years solicitors and peddlers seeking <br /> <br />permits do not solicit for a twelve (12) month period but, rather, solicit for a short period <br /> <br />of time and, therefore, permits should be granted for sixty (60) days, at which time <br /> <br />solicitors or peddlers can seek renewals if necessary. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City, its citizens and solicitors and <br /> <br />peddlers to amend and clarify Chapter 26, Article III, "Peddlers and Solicitors;" and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, words with dQJ.Ible underlineq type shall constitute additions to the <br /> <br />original text and strike tt:lro¡,¡¡:¡h shall constitute deletions to the original text. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA: <br /> <br />SECTION I: Section 26-66, "Definitions," of Chapter 26 of the Code of <br /> <br />Ordinances of the City of Casselberry is hereby amended to read as follows: <br />Sec. 26-66.
