City CommisslonMeeting
March 24,2003
Page 24

anybody that have contact with as employee or with Mr. Segreto on a professional level. They are
just really very highly praising of Mr. Segreto. I just wanted to say thank you myself. And I just
want to end with saying that, again for the record, 1 want everybody to know that it's my desire to
make an informed decision for the good of the residents of Casselbeny afmr all our options have
been explored. I mentioned this to Mr. Segreto, I am going to meet with Progress Energy at the
end of this week. I am not putting on closed blinders to what they have to offer but taking our last
proposal that Tony gave me, I am going to be very frank and honest with them.

DOERNER: Can I add to that. I have a couple of things, you opened it up so and I thought we
were all getting out so early here. You mentioned the mailer and it is not only the mailer, it is I
am just going to call it low ball politics, bottom shelf stuff, poor quality. The misinformation is
grossly misinformed. It is not accurate and it is really kind of amazing because if you want to
push somebody farther from your position, that is exactly how you go about doing it because you
become very disreputable, not trustworthy. An it amazes me that that would be the tactic that
would be taken unless you just simply want to be decisive, negative, critical of everything and I
think it is very easy to criticize, particularly when you are from the outside. Having been around
and involved and critical of Casselberry, Mr. Schluckebier and other people over the years, the
different times, I now understand that that is very easy to do and you ought to judge them carefully
when you do that because it will come back to haunt you. In some fashion in your life, it really
will. The information is incorrect, I believe the people who put it out are aware that it is incorrect,
it is not what I said during the election. I have always said that I understand that this position and
I have said this before here is supposed to weighing out all of the options even if you don't like
the option. You are supposed to represent everyone not your little special interests or you own
special opinions. You can certainly feel stronger about some issues, but you never leave all
options out. That is just simply a poor process. You can certainly have preferences, there is no
problem with that. That is when you are representing everyone. I have always represented that I
am not fond of the City operating it and yet I am constantly being hounded by some people with
misinformation that says precisely that. I want to reiterate one more time, it causes disrespect for
those particular sources and perhaps maybe what they offer needs to be looked at much more
carefully because perhaps there is not much there and it is a very poor tactic to take I would think,
but having said that I think there is other goals and it is very sad because we have a great
community, we have a potential future that is fantastic, CRA that could really achieve things here
and benefit everybody, west side, east side, trailer park area, instead we have people who are
constantly trying to have in fighting and battles and it not a perfect government but it is a good
one. It has room to work as long as you are trying to be constructive, not destructive in your
process. I am looking forward to meeting with Progress Energy, I am not sure they are going to be
looking forward to meeting with me. I have some very specific issues and had they come forward
with a good contract three or four months ago, we wouldn't be here. I talked to many people, I
have had excellent response. They were right on line, they came in angry and left saying options
are good, OUC look at it, yes I understand buying and leasing it out, I understand exactly, I
