The City of Winter Park has retained the lobbying services of <br />Mr. Peebles with $10,000 participation level; the City of Apopka participates at the $6,000 level. <br />If the City chooses to approve a contract with Mr. Peebles, he would recommend an amount not <br />to exceed $6,000. <br /> <br />Commissioner Cook stated that the Florida League of Cities was an adequate resource for <br />tracking legislation and she was opposed to allocating money for a lobbyist considering the tight <br />economic times. <br /> <br />MOTION.: <br /> <br />Moved by Vice Mayor/Commissioner Al Clark to approve the <br />Legislative Services Agreement with William J. Peebles not to exceed <br />$6,000. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Susan Doerner <br />and carried on a 3 - 1 roll call vote. Commissioner Kathy Cook <br />dissenting. <br /> <br />11. Commission/Staff Reports <br /> <br />Commissioner Susan Doemer <br /> Thanked Linda Moore for working on getting the Tree City designation for <br /> Casselberry. <br /> <br />Commissioner Kathy Cook <br /> Responded to criticism of her by a member of the audience at the February 10, <br /> 2003 Commission Meeting regarding her lack of participation on volunteer <br /> boards, stating that the only Commissioner on the board to serve in a volunteer <br /> capacity was Commissioner Doemer. <br /> <br />Requested the proposal that was sent to the Commission from Progress Energy be <br />scheduled for the next Commission Agenda. <br /> <br />Commissioner A1 Clark <br /> · Addressed the per diem issue being controlled by Tallahassee instead of <br /> controlled by the City. The City Attorney stated that the Florida League of Cities <br /> has entered legislation on behalf of cities and home rule power. <br /> <br />Asked for an updated regarding the Adult Entertainment Rezoning lnterlocal <br />Agreement. The City Attorney stated they were waiting for Seminole County to <br />settle some litigation. <br /> <br /> <br />
