Cristina Viv6, Director of Personnel/A <br />Subj ect:Request for a New Position in the Information <br />System Division and Upgrade for Information System <br />Manager <br />This is a request to add a new position in the Information <br />System Division and request to upgrade the Information System <br />Manager position for internal equity consideration. <br />The position requested is Network Systems Engineer at Paygrade <br />128 ($39,119-$56,868). This is a professional, computer <br />engineering position requiring extensive knowledge of network <br />systems design. This position is requested during mid -year due <br />to the grant received by the Police Department to install <br />laptops computer in the patrol cars. There are presently seven <br />(7) laptops purchased and a total of 20 computers will be <br />purchased by the end of year. This position will support the <br />installation and administration of these systems as well as <br />other comparable city-wide data systems. Previous budget <br />discussions have consistently avoided creating new computer <br />personnel until the need was established. The Civil Service <br />Board approved the proposed job description on February 13, 2001 <br />pending City Commission approval. <br />The Information Systems Manager current paygrade is 129($41,054 <br />-$59,702). This is only one paygrade higher than the proposed <br />engineer position. Therefore, it is requested that the Manager <br />position be upgraded to Paygrade 130 ($43,101 - $62,716)with an <br />accompanying 20 salary adjustment. <br />The estimated cost for FY 2000-2001 for the remainder of this <br />fiscal year $29,390.
