CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION
Minutes of July 22, 2024 — Regular Meeting
Page 6 of 18
G. Resolution 24-3438 — Authorizing Execution of an Indemnification Agreement in
Favor of the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT)
"A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CASSELBERRY,
FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AN INDEMNIFICATION AGREEMENT IN
FAVOR OF THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (FDOT) REQUIRED BY
FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION (FDEP) AND FDOT;
PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS, SEVERABILITY, AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE."
Introduction: Approval of Resolution 24-3438 authorizing execution of an indemnification agreement in
favor of the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) for any ramifications from a stable brownfield
plume underneath US Hwy. 17-92 which originated for the old police station site is requested.
Budget Impact: There is no impact to the City Budget at this time.
Recommendation: The City Manager and the Community Development Director recommended approval
of Resolution 24-3438.
H. Resolution 24-3439 — Authorizing Joint Submittal of a "Safe Streets and Roads for
All" Planning Grant Application to the U.S. Department of Transportation
"A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CASSELBERRY,
FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE JOINT SUBMITTAL OF A SAFE STREETS AND ROADS FOR
ALL PLANNING GRANT PROPOSAL TO THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
IN CONJUNCTION WITH METROPLAN ORLANDO TO ASSIST WITH FURTHERING
VISION ZERO INITIATIVES; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS, SEVERABILITY, AND
EFFECTIVE DATE."
Introduction: Approval of Resolution 24-3439 authorizing the City of Casselberry to participate in joint
submittal of a Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Planning Grant with MetroPlan Orlando and other
agencies to the U.S. Department of Transportation to assist with furthering Vision Zero initiatives, inclusive
of a local match of 20%, not to exceed $30,000, is requested.
Budget Impact: There is no immediate impact to the City Budget. However, should the City be awarded
a planning grant (through joint application) and enter into a grant agreement, and/or agreement with
participating agencies, it is anticipated a local match, not to exceed $30,000 (as proposed in this agenda
item), would be included as part of the agreement. This would be addressed by future agenda item(s) with
Budget Amendment(s) as needed.
Recommendation: The City Manager and the Public Works & Utilities Director recommended approval
of Resolution 24-3439.
