CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION <br />Minutes of July 22, 2024 — Regular Meeting <br />Page 18 of 18 <br />Commissioner Nancy Divita - Seat No. 2: <br />• Also echoed earlier comments about retired Captain Schaefer and thanked him for his years of <br />service. <br />• Thanked Police Department staff who had assisted residents with some concerns that had <br />recently been brought to her attention. <br />• Stated she had enjoyed attending one of the recent Blue Bamboo events at the Casselberry Arts <br />Center hoped the Center would continue to be used for similar events. <br />Vice Mayor/Commissioner Anthony Aramendia - Seat No. 1: <br />Extended his congratulations to Captain Schaefer on his retirement. <br />Added to Commissioner Busch's comments commending staff on the proposed budget, noting <br />that he was glad the City was able to address budget issues caused by inflation, while also being <br />able to keep the millage rate at 2.9000 mills. <br />Agreed with earlier comments that the Blue Bamboo events had been very successful, and he <br />had received positive comments from attendees and about the park and its facilities and events. <br />Mayor/Commissioner David Henson - Seat No. 5: <br />Congratulated Captain Schaefer on his retirement, noting that he had actually been serving on <br />the City Commission when Captain Schaefer had been hired and had seen him come up through <br />the ranks over the years and was proud of his accomplishments. <br />Recently attended the following events and meetings: MetroPlan Orlando Municipal Advisory <br />Committee (MAC) meeting on June 27"'; Private Business Association of Seminole, Inc. <br />(PBAS) breakfast meeting at which the group agreed to unanimously support the penny sales <br />tax; Casselberry Chamber of Commerce Monthly Business Luncheon on Wednesday, July 10"'; <br />the Budget Workshop on Monday, July l 5rl', noting that he agreed that staff always does a great <br />job on preparation of the proposed budget; Kiwanis Club meeting on July 18t" at which the <br />speaker was the U.S. Attorney who presented information on the opioid crisis, including how <br />drug dealers are being convicted when they have sold drugs who someone who dies of an <br />overdose; and the Blue Bamboo event at the Casselberry Arts Center on July 20"'. <br />18.
