City of Casselberry <br />Parks and Recreation Advisory Board <br />Regular Meeting—September 14, 2021 <br />Barbara Kester, 376 S Lost Lake Lane, Casselberry, mentioned the size of the Brightwater <br />property the natural beauty and her concerns about light pollution and increased traffic. <br />Kurt Klausner, 924 Saza Run, Casselberry, spoke of traffic and parking concerns. <br />Lauren Day, 3457 Sea Grape, Winter Park, began by noting that she grew up at 709 S Lost Lake. <br />She then articulated her worries regarding traffic, parking, and pedestrian safety. <br />Allison Burke, 519 Queens Mirror Circle, discussed her background as a Florida ecologist. <br />Karen Hulbert, 410 Iris Road, Casselberry, agreed with the need for a passive park and a smaller <br />capacity venue. <br />Following audience participation, Chairwoman Icenhower opened the floor for board members. <br />Board Member Santiago agreed with the need for an intimate venue and concerns over parking. <br />He also remarked on the natural beauty of the property. Board Member Nash expressed her <br />interest in preserving nature and creating a passive park. Board Member Dia Nordstrom also <br />spoke of the natural beauty and mentioned the parking pavers used at Secret Lake Park. <br />Chairwoman Icenhower reiterated the importance of community input and the historical <br />significance of the property. <br />Mr. Fathelbab concluded the presentation and thanked the staff consultants and community for <br />their efforts. <br />6. Staff Report <br />a) Parks Improvements and Updates <br />Ms. Linda Moore, Recreation Manager, reviewed park improvements. First, she informed the <br />board of the permanent wayfinding signage that was installed for the Bike 5 Cities event. She also <br />gave an update on park construction projects. <br />b) Recreation Updates <br />Ms. Moore began with a recap of recreation activities from July and August. Next, she highlighted <br />upcoming events such as Track Shack's Battle of the Bands 5K, Sunset Jazz and Art Fest, October <br />Country Jam, Swing "Fore" the Arts Golf Tournament, and Craft Beer and Blues Fest. Also <br />discussed were new and upcoming art exhibits: Gillespie's Totems, iLLuminART, reVision, and <br />Experience Contemporary. <br />
