City of Casselberry <br />Parks and Recreation Advisory Board <br />Regular Meeting — November 8, 2022 <br />Board Chair Katy Farmer sought clarification regarding benches for the area. Board member <br />Buffy Werle sought clarification regarding the total cost and discount we would be receiving. <br />Linda Moore, Recreation Manager, shared additional information regarding these questions. <br />After Board member discussion, Board Chair Katy Farmer opened the floor for comments from <br />the public. There were no comments made. <br />Ms. Moore requested the Board make a recommendation to the City Commission regarding the <br />Wirz Park playground equipment purchase. <br />6. Motion Recommendation of Wirz Park Improvements <br />Board Member Buffy Werle made a motion to provide a favorable recommendation to the <br />City Commission of the purchase from Miracle Recreation Equipment Company for the Wirz <br />Park playground equipment. Motion was seconded by Board Member LeAnn Nash. Motion <br />carried unanimously 3-0. <br />7. Staff Reports <br />a) Recreation Update <br />Linda Moore shared that the Battle of the Bands and Latin Jazz events were very well attended. <br />The Spooktoberfest event this year was combined with the City of Casselberry's Police <br />Department's National Night Out. This drew a bigger turnout, more activities and vendors along <br />with plenty of candy. Country Rock N Rides had approximately 70 cars in the show and Pure <br />Prairie League provided a special trip down memory lane with hits like "Amie." Hook Kids on <br />Fishing was a great day of teaching kids to fish by the team from Gumbo Wars Inc. with assistance <br />from the Central Florida Junior Anglers. Every child was sent home with a fishing pole and tackle <br />box. The Swing "Fore" the Arts Golf Tournament sold out this year and was a big success. Thank <br />you to Cindy Guiles for her work on the tournament. Additionally, we have secured our main <br />sponsor again for next year. <br />Non -city events included a Senior Resource event held at the Recreation Center which provided <br />a vast array of information for Seniors and their families. Friends of the Park held their Top <br />Brewer event "Top Chef" style. Bike Five Cities event was held and Casselberry is the only city in <br />Seminole County that is a part of the 28 mile journey with a stop at Wirz Park. <br />Our Food Truck event scheduled for this Friday the 111h has been cancelled because of the <br />impending storm.
