City of Casselberry <br />Parks and Recreation Advisory Board <br />Regular Meeting — November 8, 2022 <br />Festival is still scheduled for Saturday the 12th from 4 —10 pm. The free event is sponsored by <br />TrustCo Bank and Orange Blossom Blues Society. TrustCo is also sponsoring a new event on <br />Sunday the 13th, the Veteran and Active Duty Run for Freedom 5K benefiting JOSH —Just Our <br />Soldier's Help. The Food and Wine Festival will be held on Monday the 14th with over 20 food <br />vendors attending. Tickets are still available. <br />b) Arts and Culture Update <br />Linda Moore, Recreation Manager, shared an update on the new gallery space that is currently <br />under construction, anticipating an opening in late Spring. Additionally, she shared an update <br />on the improvements to the Sculpture House with the relocation of the Bill Platt's "Pathfinder," <br />a kinetic sculpture, to the front of the Sculpture House, Artist Marla E created an installation in <br />the carport of the Sculpture House consisting of five acrylic panel paintings. This was a project <br />funded by the Seniors for a Better Community through a grant. Currently at the Sculpture <br />House is a ceramic art exhibit. <br />c) Parks Update <br />Linda Moore, Recreation Manager, shared the Secret Lake Park renovations are almost <br />complete with the installation of the canopy over the back patio area and the addition of tables <br />and chairs. Rotary Park is back and the City will be purchasing mulch to place down soon or may <br />wait for South Seminole Academy's Community Service Day in May. <br />8. Board Member Reports <br />Board Member LeAnn Nash shared she attended the Country Rock N Rides event and stated there was <br />good music, it was well organized and attended, and everyone had a good time. She also shared she <br />attended the Top Brewer event as well as several food truck events and had a wonderful time. She <br />expressed excitement for all the great events recently and for the Art House expansion thanking Linda <br />Moore and the City for all of their efforts. <br />Board member Buffy Werle shared she and her husband had previously lived at the current location of <br />the Sculpture House. She expressed appreciation that the City did not tear it down, saving a piece of <br />history and turning it into something great. <br />Board Chair Katy Farmer shared appreciation for and excitement for the Sculpture House, the Art House, <br />the parks and all of the great events. She expressed appreciation to Linda Moore for all of her efforts. <br />9. Audience Participation <br />None. <br />3 <br />
