City of Casselberry <br />Parks and Recreation Advisory Board <br />Regular Meeting—June 14, 2022 <br />b) Recreation Update <br />Linda Moore shared that the Spring Jazz and Art event featuring Brian Simpson and Jackiem <br />Joyner was well attended, along with the Folk Festival featuring the band Yarn. Earth Fest was <br />held at the end of April and included a Cigar Box festival sponsored by Orange Blossom Blues. <br />Free trees were given out and there were two butterfly launches. A big thank you too to our <br />other sponsor, Friends of the Park, who held a teacup auction along with other items that <br />helped raise funds for park related projects. In May we celebrated Older Americans month, a <br />national program, recognizing many of our key seniors who are active and volunteer their time <br />and talents to the community. Additionally, we held a Senior Art exhibit at the Art House during <br />the month. Rock N' Blues concert and Car Show, sponsored by Orange Blossom Blues, was held <br />Memorial Day weekend. A large crowd enjoyed the cars and music and we recognized our <br />veterans. Food trucks are the second Fridays of each month and the entertainment for July's <br />event is guitarist Dane Colbert. Fall events include Latin Jazz and Art with percussionist Tito <br />Puenta, Jr. and musician Rico Monaco on Saturday, September 241h and Pure Prairie League on <br />Saturday, October 29th for the Country Rock and Car Show event. Get Out Casselberry is this <br />Saturday from 9 a.m. to Noon. All are welcome to come and try out a Paddleboard and Kayak. <br />Paddleboard USA will be on hand to provide demonstrations and help those interested in <br />learning how to stand up on a paddleboard. Summer camp at Wirz Park is full. The Wirz pool is <br />now open with a daily cost of $2 for Casselberry residents and $3 for non-residents. Swim <br />lessons are also offered. Currently in the Art House is the Pastel Society of Central Florida <br />exhibit. In the Sculpture House our Artist in Residence is Shannon Rae Lindsey. Ms. Lindsey is an <br />Artist, Professor and the UCF Art Gallery Director. <br />8. Board Member Resorts <br />Board Member Nick Santiago expressed appreciation for everything looking great. <br />Board member LeAnn Nash expressed excitement for all the upcoming activities. <br />Board Chair Katy Farmer shared appreciation for the presentations provided at tonight's meeting and <br />excitement for seeing music events, the arts, activities at Wirz Park, all coming back. <br />9.
