City of Casselberry <br />Parks and Recreation Advisory Board <br />Regular Meeting—April 9, 2024 <br />co-sponsored by Friends of the Park. The event includes seminars with plant and tree <br />giveaways, a butterfly release, eco -friendly vendors, and a recycled art exhibit at the Art House. <br />Board member Sarah Wilson inquired where the plants and trees were being purchased from. <br />Linda Moore stated she would inquire and send the information to the Board via email. <br />The Classic Rock & Car Show is on Saturday, May 25 from 4 to 9 PM. Musical performers include <br />Sound Theory and Rockit Fly. There will be more than 150 classic cars to view and food and <br />product vendors on hand. Once again this year we will be honoring our veterans at the event. <br />The Recreation Center will be celebrating Older Americans Month in May with a full schedule of <br />events. These will include a Senior Expo, Armed Forces Day, and a special ceremony to honor <br />extraordinary seniors in our community. Newer Recreation programs include Salsa Dance, <br />Power Yoga, Kids Cooking classes and "Purposeful Play for All" sessions for kids ages 2 to 7. <br />Summer Camp registration is now open and is being held at Secret Lake Park. Summer Art <br />Camp registration begins on May 7th. This year, Art Camp will have two separate daily sessions <br />to accommodate more campers. Both camps will run from June 3rd through July 261H <br />The Casselberry Arts Center will host the UCF School of Visual Arts and Design, MFA exhibition <br />through June 14th with an opening reception on Tuesday, April 16th from 6 to 9 PM. <br />Board Member Sarah Wilson inquired about the source of the plants being given away at the <br />Earth Fest event. Linda Moore stated that she would reach out to Nick Cooper, Natural <br />Resources Officer, and follow up on that. <br />7. Board Member Reports <br />Board Vice Chair Woody Bass shared appreciation for the pollinator stations added to the <br />gardens at Crystal Bowl Park. <br />8.
