City of Casselberry <br />Parks and Recreation Advisory Board <br />Regular Meeting — May 9, 2023 <br />description of the fountain. Additionally, she shared that the City of Casselberry Chamber of <br />Commerce has donated $5000 toward the purchase of the drinking fountain. <br />Ms. Moore requested the Board make a recommendation to the City Commission to approve <br />the purchase of a chilled water fountain from Most Dependable Fountains, Inc., in the amount <br />of $8230 to replace the old drinking fountain located on the east side of Lake Concord Park near <br />the Art House. Upon conclusion of the presentation, Board Chair Katy Farmer opened the floor <br />for comments from the board. <br />Board Member Woody Bass questioned the cost of the installation of the fountain and if that <br />cost was included in the price quote. Ms. Moore stated that the quote for $8230 does not <br />include the cost of installation and currently does not know what the cost would be. <br />Additionally Mr. Bass inquired about the company chosen for the purchase. Ms. Moore shared <br />the City has purchased a fountain from them in the past and is pleased with the product which <br />currently is located at Secret Lake Park. <br />Board Chair Katy Farmer asked for questions or comments from the public. There were none. <br />Board Member Woody Bass moved to provide a favorable recommendation to the City <br />Commission on approval of the purchase of the chilled water fountain for Lake Concord Park <br />as presented by Ms. Moore. Motion was seconded by Board Member LeAnn Nash. Motion <br />carried unanimously 3-0 by voice vote. <br />6. Staff Reports <br />a) Park Improvements and Updates <br />Linda Moore, Recreation Manager, shared that the renovations of the tennis court at Lake <br />Hodge Park are nearing completion and will be striped for tennis and pickleball. Additionally <br />she shared volunteers from Trustco Bank in Longwood came out on Earth Day to engage in <br />clean up of Lake Concord Park and the Sculpture House garden. <br />b) Recreation Events and Arts Updates <br />There was a tremendous turnout for the Spring Jazz and Art Festival in March as well as for the <br />Earth Fest event in April. Earth Fest included the Drop Savers Program, Cigar Box Festival, tree <br />and plant giveaways, workshops, and a butterfly release. <br />The City has teamed up with Greater Orlando Soccer Academy (GOSA) for the resurrection of <br />youth soccer in the City. Pool season at Wirz Park pool runs from Memorial Day, May 29th to <br />August 13th. Pool passes are available for purchase along with swimming lessons. The city's <br />eight week Summer Camp is full and there is a wait list. <br />
