City of Casselberry <br />Parks and Recreation Advisory Board <br />Regular Meeting — March 14, 2023 <br />Saxophone great Will Donato and guitarist Blake Aaron co -headline the City of Casselberry's <br />free Spring Jazz and Art Festival on Saturday, March 25, 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., at Lake Concord <br />Park. There will be a VIP reception and Meet and Greet Party at the Cafe area before the show <br />from 5 p.m.- 7 p.m. and the Board is invited. Food and beverages will be provided. <br />The 13th annual Earth Fest will be on Saturday, April 29, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Lake <br />Concord Park. The day begins with Earth Fest with free tree and plant giveaways, butterfly <br />releases and gardening workshops hosted by the City of Casselberry and Casselberry's Friends <br />of the Park. The mission of the day is to bring awareness about protecting our environment, <br />creating clean energy and reducing our carbon footprint. The areas that will educate, <br />encourage and empower citizens to create a sustainable community include the Green Vendor <br />Area, Entertainment Area, Food area and a Kids Zone. The event also celebrates Arbor Day. At <br />noon, there will be the Cigar Box Guitar Festival which is sponsored by the Orange Blossom <br />Blues Society with Friends of the Park as co-sponsors. <br />Experience Contemporary Exhibit will be on view inside City Hall from March 13th through May <br />18th with a special reception happening in conjunction with the Spring Jazz and Art Festival on <br />March 25 from 6 to 8 p.m. This exhibition features some of the area's most exciting artists. The <br />Women Artists Group "Milestones" Exhibit will be on view inside the Art House from March 3rd <br />through March 28th. In April on view will be the Recycled Art Exhibition from April 41h through <br />April 29th with a reception from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on the 29th during the Earth Fest event. This <br />exhibit is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Casselberry. The AP Student Artwork Showcase <br />concluded in February. Thank you to Board Chair Katy Farmer for her contribution to make this <br />event possible each year. <br />Upon conclusion Ms. Moore requested comments and questions from the Board. Board <br />member Woody Bass asked about the possibility of expanding the hours of some of our <br />facilities, including the Art House which currently is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays. Mr. <br />Bass stated we have been working hard on improving our facilities and questioned if we also <br />are looking to improve the times the facilities are accessible to the public. Ms. Moore stated <br />extended hours were not possible based on the current staffing availability and that our hours <br />are similar to others in the area. She shared the art exhibits are open concurrently with our <br />events in Lake Concord Park. <br />9. Board Member Reports <br />Board Member Nick Santiago expressed appreciation for the improvements to the parks and <br />how great they look. Mr. Santiago shared that he is enjoying Secret Lake Park along with many <br />others in the community. <br />4 <br />
