c. From a list of available applicants having submitted applications for a particular board, <br />the City Commission shall make motions to appoint applicants equal to the number of <br />vacancies. Discussion will occur prior to the vote on each motion. <br />8. After appointment, Board members will be required to attend training sessions <br />which will be offered to the members at various times throughout their terms of office. <br />Additionally, Board members will be notified of meeting attendance requirements. <br />9. Board Members shall be eligible to serve no more than three (3) consecutive terms <br />on a board prior to being rotated off for at least one full year or one full term of the Board in <br />question (whichever is shorter). The purpose of this restriction is to ensure that as many citizens <br />as possible have an opportunity to serve in some capacity that benefits the City. The only City <br />Board exempt from this policy is the Police Officers' and Firefighters' Pension Board. <br />10. Volunteer Board Application Form <br />a. The City Clerk shall regularly update the Volunteer Board Application Form to ensure <br />it meets the needs of the City Commission to be able to have sufficient information to <br />consider applicants for vacancies to City Boards and as representatives for the City to <br />any other boards. <br />b. Volunteer Board Application Forms will only be effective for one calendar year. <br />Applications received are automatically submitted to the City Commission for <br />co11 Ideration tvi' appointment when vacancies occur Liu'oi:tg11Gi.it the year. if Soiiieorie <br />is not selected by December 31s`, they will need to submit a new application to be <br />considered for appointment the following year. <br />c. Board Members serve at the pleasure of the City Commission and may be removed <br />with or without cause upon motion and majority vote of the City Commission. The <br />Volunteer Board Application Form shall state this, and the applicant's signature shall <br />waive any right under Florida Statutes Section 112.501 to removal for cause and a <br />hearing before removal. <br />d. All Boards and their members must function in accordance with provisions of the City <br />Charter, City Code and Florida laws, including GOVERNMENT IN THE SUNSHINE <br />and the requirement for financial disclosure for certain boards. The Volunteer Board <br />Application Form shall state this and have the applicant affirm by their signature that <br />they understand the responsibilities associated with being a Board Member and affirm <br />that they have adequate time to serve on the board(s) that they have applied for. <br />The Volunteer Board Appointment Form shall contain a Certificate of Applicant which <br />states that the applicant certifies that all the statements made on the application form <br />are true and correct and that they understand that any false statements or omissions <br />from the application form may be cause for the application to not be considered by the <br />City Commission. <br />Resolution No. 24-3434 <br />Page 3 <br />
