WHEREAS, Vision Zero is a data -driven strategy to eliminate all traffic fatalities and <br />severe injuries, while increasing safe, healthy, equitable mobility for all; and <br />WHEREAS, Vision Zero is founded on a Safe System approach that recognizes roadway <br />systems and policies should be designed to protect people through shared responsibilities; and <br />WHEREAS, there are over 50 Vision Zero jurisdictions in the United States, which is <br />expected to increase significantly in the coming years; and <br />WHEREAS, Vision Zero should create opportunities to invite meaningful input from the <br />community, including residents that are disproportionately burdened by traffic collisions, and <br />historically have been underserved. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />SECTION I. The City Commission of the City of Casselberry hereby adopts the Vision <br />Zero goal to eliminate traffic deaths and severe injuries by 2030 on all City -owned streets and by <br />2040 on all other streets and roads within the City. <br />SECTION II. The City Commission of the City of Casselberry hereby commits the City of <br />Casselberry to, subsequent to the adoption of a Vision Zero Action Plan, periodically review <br />progress to Zero and take additional actions as heeded to advance the goal of zero fatalities and <br />severe injuries. <br />SECTION III. Conflicts. All Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in conflict with any of <br />the provisions of this Resolution are hereby repealed. <br />SECTION IV. Severability. If any Section or portion of a Section of this Resolution <br />proves to be invalid, unlawful, or unconstitutional, it shall not be held to invalidate or impair the <br />validity, force, or effect of any other Section or part of this Resolution. <br />SECTION V. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its <br />passage and adoption. <br />PASSED and ADOPTED this' day of VVI , AD 2024. <br />ATTEST: <br />Donna G.
