CASSCLBERRY CITY COMMISSION
Minutes of April 10, 2023 — Regular Meeting
Page 9 of 11
for events and parties are disruptive to those and she was looking to the City to enact regulations
to help get this under control.
Bill Hufford, 527 Queens Mirror Circle, agreed with the earlier concerns expressed and added
that he also had concerns that these short-term rentals were most likely not ADA (Americans
With Disabilities Act) compliant and there was potential for issues should someone get injured
at one of these locations. He felt that ADA compliance could be another tool that the City
could possibly use to assist in its endeavor to regulate these types of rentals in the City.
No one else came forward.
The City Commission thanked those residents who had come to the meeting and expressed their concerns,
and each of the Commissioners assured them that they were aware of the concerns related to these short-
term rentals and that staff and the City Attorney were currently actively pursuing possible solutions to the
issue. It was noted, however, that it would not be a quick process due to the number of things that had to
be considered before any new legislation was enacted, such as case law, zoning issues and property rights,
but it was agreed that it was an issue affecting the City as a whole that needed to be addressed.
14. CITY MANAGER'S REPORT
Advised that the City was very much engaged in looking into the best path to take regarding a
resolution to the issues raised about Airbnb rental properties. He encouraged anyone with a
concern about noise, parking, or other incident pertaining to these properties to contact the
Police Department non -emergency number so there would be a report and documentation of
the incidents. He noted that there would most likely need to be as much evidentiary information
as possible to achieve a positive outcome on how to handle this issue within the City and the
more engaged the public is and the more information received from the residents who witness
these issues, the more likely a successful outcome will be achieved.
15. CITY ATTORNEY'S REPORT
No report.
16. CITY CLERK'S REPORT
City Clerk Donna Gardner shared the following information:
• The next Casselberry Food Trucks event will be Friday, April 14t1, from 6-9 p.m, in Lake
Concord Park.
