CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION
Minutes of November 14, 2022 — Regular Meeting
Page 29 of 30
Commissioner Mark Busch - Seat No. 3:
• Responded to Commissioner Albritton's comments about citizens' concerns about the
streetlighting stating he had experienced a similar problem and was able to go onto Duke
Energy's website and pinpoint the location of the light in question and Duke Energy was able
to address the issue within 3-5 days. He suggested that if Commissioner Albritton receives
those types of concerns again lie could share this information with the residents for a possible
resolution to the problems.
• Stated he appreciated the citizens' comments on the newly adopted ordinances relating to
development and redevelopment in the City, noting that the changes would greatly benefit both
large and small businesses, and the City would always consider its small businesses in these
types of decisions as they were such a large part of the community.
• Commended staff for bringing forward the ordinance on the illicit discharge as it had become
very apparent with the recent storms that keeping the City's drainage systems clear was very,
very important.
• Expressed appreciation to all staff who had worked on preparations before, during and after
Hurricane Nicole and those who had manned the EOC (Emergency Operations Center), noting
that everyone had done a fantastic job.
• Thanked all staff who work so hard to make the City's events so successful.
Commissioner Andrew Meadows — Seat No. 2:
Also commended all staff for the great job on the City's response to Hurricane Nicole.
Thanked the citizens who had come to the meeting to speak on the ordinances related to
development and redevelopment and expressed their concerns about the potential effect on
small businesses.
Stated that lie was going to attribute the condition of the landscaping at Brightwater on the two
recent hurricanes, but assured the citizens present that the City would be working to get it
cleaned up.
Vice Mayor/Commissioner Anthony Aramendia - Seat No. 1:
Advised that the City could possibly coordinate with Friends of the Park to organize cleanup
of the landscaping at Brightwater.
Stated he thought there had been a policy in place in the past where the City's police officers
when patrolling at night would document when a streetlight or lamppost was out and provide
the documentation to the appropriate staff to coordinate any needed repairs. Ms. Gardner
confirmed that had been the policy very long ago, and Mr. Newlon advised that the officers
work with code enforcement staff by reporting violations from time to time that are observed
during their patrols, but he was not specifically aware of anything recently relating to
streetlights that were out.
Reported that the Casselberry Chamber of Commerce Food and Wine Festival was taking place
tonight in Lake Concord Park from 6-9 p.m.
